Build a school tuition and fee payment system
Kliv is an AI app builder. Describe your school tuition and fee payment system — plans, calendars, family statements, activity fees, aid rules, and reminders — and it builds it on your own Stripe account.
Just enter your idea into the text box and AI will build it for you
What is Kliv?
Kliv isn’t a school billing add-on you sign up for and configure — it’s an AI app builder that builds software for you.
You describe the app you need in your own words, and Kliv builds it: the database, the logic, the screens, all of it. What you get is a real, working app that’s yours. You can use it, change it later by asking for changes, and run it on your own accounts, starting with your own Stripe account. It isn’t a template with your name on it.
On this page, that app is a tuition and fee payment system for your school calendar. Kliv builds all kinds of web apps; school tuition payments are the part this page covers.
Why build your own tuition payment system?
Tuition follows a school calendar, not a normal monthly software plan. Families may choose annual payment or ten monthly charges. Activity fees, instrument rentals, trips, aid adjustments, and withdrawals need to land on one family statement.
For Beatrice’s independent school, October used to mean matching bank transfers to surnames and chasing failed cards. Kliv builds billing around the school’s calendar and rules, so the office and parents read the same statement.
Each family’s page in the book
The business office runs on records that enforce the fee rules.
Households
Parents, students, paid amounts, due amounts, and upcoming charges sit in one view. Split households can split billing without manual arithmetic.
Tuition plans
Annual in full or ten monthly charges, such as $940 from August through May. The schedule follows the school calendar you describe.
Fees
Instrument rental, field trips, yearbook, and activity fees can land on the same family statement instead of separate envelopes and messages.
Aid and adjustments
Aid percentages and adjustments can be visible only to business-office roles. Parents see their price, not the committee’s notes.
Family portal
Parents update cards, download receipts, and read statements from the portal instead of emailing the office.
Withdrawal file
A mid-year withdrawal stops the plan on the date you set and records what remains owed or returned.
An example: Beatrice’s independent school
Here’s how one business might use it. It’s only an example — you would describe your own tuition plans, fee schedule, aid rules, and withdrawal policy.
A family chooses its plan
The Okonkwo family chooses the ten-month plan, pays the $180 enrolment fee, and the portal opens before school starts.
Monthly charges run on schedule
August and September charges run automatically, receipts go by email, and the statement updates without office work.
A failed card gets fixed by the family
In October, the card expires. Retries run and parents get a payment-update link. They fix it from a phone, and Beatrice does not have to write the reminder.
Activity fees join the statement
The music teacher assigns a violin. The $230 rental appears on the same family statement and is paid in the same portal.
A withdrawal follows the policy
In March, the family moves. The plan stops on the withdrawal date, the final statement calculates what remains, and any refund waits for named office approval.
Describe what you want to build
Kliv builds from your description, so the more detail you give, the closer the first version. Include plan names, amounts, calendar dates, fees, split billing, failed payments, and refund approval. Here are three to build on:
Tuition plan billing
Annual and ten-month plans on the school calendar.
“Build tuition billing for our school. Families choose Annual paid in full by August 15 or Monthly with 10 charges of $940 from August through May. Send receipts by email, show paid and overdue families on a business-office dashboard, retry failed cards three times, and let parents update cards in the portal.”
Family fee statements
Every student fee on one statement.
“Build a family billing portal where activity fees, field trips, yearbook charges, and instrument rentals are added per student and appear on one household statement. Parents can pay by card, download receipts, and see which fees are paid, due, or overdue.”
Enrollment with payment
Forms and fee in one flow.
“Build an enrollment flow for our school. Families submit application forms, choose Annual or Monthly tuition, pay a $180 enrollment fee at the end, receive a confirmation email, and get a portal account for future statements.”
Four office jobs the app takes over
Plans have an end date. A ten-month tuition plan charges ten times, then stops until re-enrolment. Proration can handle a family changing plans mid-year.
Pricing windows can keep their own dates. Early-enrollment pricing ends on the date you publish because the catalog holds the date.
You can rehearse the year. In the Sandbox, run enrolment, ten monthly charges, a failed October card, and a March withdrawal before connecting real payments.
Privacy is enforced at the row. A parent sees their household, students, statement, and allowed aid information. Another family’s finances are not returned to their session.
Tuition uses Kliv’s commerce engine underneath. The commerce page explains the payments, checkout, and tax pieces.
Common questions
What exactly is Kliv?
Kliv is an AI app builder that builds custom web apps from a description. For tuition, it builds plans, statements, portal access, failed-payment handling, and approval flows around your school calendar.
Do I get a real app, or a template?
A real app. Kliv builds the data, payment rules, screens, and portal for your school’s tuition process.
Can I change it after it’s built?
Yes. Ask for new plans, changed amounts, split billing, a different grace period, or another fee type.
Does Kliv charge per student?
No. Kliv does not price tuition by taking a percentage per student. Payments clear on your own Stripe account, on Stripe’s card-processing terms.
What about bank transfers or checks?
You can record those payments against the household so the same statement stays true for card, transfer, and check families.
What happens when a family withdraws mid-year?
The plan stops on the withdrawal date and the statement calculates what remains. Any refund can wait for office approval.
Who can see financial aid?
Only the roles you allow, such as business-office staff. Parents see their price; teachers do not see aid details.
Can families update their own cards?
Yes. The family portal can let parents update cards, download receipts, and read statements without emailing the office.
Do parents need Stripe accounts?
No. Parents just pay by card. Stripe processes the payment to your school’s account.
Does Kliv take a cut of tuition payments?
No. Payments run through your own Stripe account. Kliv does not take a percentage of tuition.
Can we test a school year before charging cards?
Yes. The Sandbox can run test payments, failed cards, withdrawals, reminders, and statement states before real payments are connected.
Can I use my own domain?
Yes. The payment portal can run on your own domain.
