Build an alumni–student interaction platform
Kliv is an AI app builder. Describe your alumni directory, mentor-pair rules, office hours, internship board, rooms, and dues, and it builds the platform around them.
Just enter your idea into the text box and AI will build it for you
What is Kliv?
Kliv isn’t a generic networking product — it’s an AI app builder that builds software for you.
You describe the app you need in plain words, and Kliv builds it: the database, member screens, pairing rules, rooms, booking logic, emails, payments, and admin tools. What you get is a real web app that’s yours, live on your own domain, and you can keep changing it by asking for changes.
On this page, that app is an alumni–student interaction platform. Kliv builds all kinds of web apps; school and membership tools are one example.
Why build your own alumni–student platform?
A social-network group cannot reliably run a mentorship program. It does not know when a pair exists, who may see contact details, how to book office hours, or which internship postings need approval.
Kliv builds those rules into the platform. The directory, pairing workflow, booking calendar, internship board, digests, and dues all live in one app the department owns.
The program’s cast
Five kinds of records carry the program, each with its own visibility rules.
The alumni record
Class year, current yard or office, and what the graduate will help with: thesis review, internship referrals, or sea-trial experience. Contact details stay sealed until a pair exists.
Mentorship pairs
A match stores the student, the graduate, and a private room with thread, files, and meeting log. The two participants and the program office can read it.
Office-hours slots
A graduate offers Thursday evening with capacity one. The second student is offered the next slot instead of creating an inbox conflict.
The internship board
Alumni submit postings, and the program office approves them before students see them. Applications stay attached to the posting.
Class-year and interest rooms
Rooms can be scoped to a cohort or interest group. Membership is a database fact, not a forwarding list.
An example: Elin’s naval-architecture mentorship program
Here’s how one department might use it. It’s only an example — you would describe your own alumni, students, rules, and dues.
Students join with university email
Two hundred students sign in during orientation. Profiles start small: year and interests, without publishing contact details they may regret later.
The directory filters three thousand graduates
A student filters alumni down to four people who know propeller cavitation. She sees each graduate’s professional card and sends a request through the platform.
An accepted request opens a private room
One graduate accepts. The pair room opens with a thread and meeting log, and contact details unlock because a match now exists.
Office hours book without double promises
Six graduates offer one-seat design-review slots. Bookings settle in the database, waitlists form, and no slot is promised twice.
An internship posting gets approved and sent
A yard in Gothenburg posts a summer internship. The office approves it, Friday’s digest sends it to matching students, and applications land on the posting.
Outcomes become program numbers
When the internship becomes an offer, the graduate marks the outcome. The dashboard shows matches, meetings, and offers from rows instead of a survey.
Describe what you want to build
Kliv builds from your description, so the more detail you give, the closer the first version. Describe member records, visibility rules, pairing, booking, approvals, digests, and dues. Here are three to build on:
Department mentorship program
Directory, mentor pairs, and office hours.
“Build an alumni–student interaction platform for our engineering department. Include an alumni directory by specialty and class year, mentor-pair matching with private rooms, bookable office-hours slots with capacity one, and a dashboard showing matches, meetings, and outcomes.”
Alumni association portal
Dues, class-year rooms, and reunions.
“Build an alumni association portal with $40 annual dues, class-year discussion rooms, a member directory, reunion event pages with RSVPs, and automatic card-recovery emails when a dues payment fails.”
Career-office pipeline
Approved postings, applications, and outcomes.
“Build a career-office platform where alumni post internships, the office approves each posting before students see it, students apply in-app, weekly digests send matching postings, and outcomes are tracked per posting and per year.”
The quiet machinery
Dues can keep access current. If the association charges alumni $40 a year, members pay and manage their cards on the association’s own Stripe account. Failed cards are retried and reminded before access closes.
Privacy is built into the rows. A student outside a pair cannot open another pair’s room because those rows are not returned to her account. That is the same answer the program can give a data officer or a worried parent.
An assistant can answer from the handbook. “Can I request a second mentor?” can be answered from the program handbook and that student’s standing. The office can review any exchange because it is stored with the program records.
Underneath the school tie, this is a membership system: tiers, dues, gates, and rooms. The membership solutions page shows the whole wardrobe.
Common questions
What exactly is Kliv?
Kliv is an AI app builder that creates custom web apps from a description. For an alumni–student platform, it builds the directory, profiles, pair rooms, booking, internship board, digests, dues, and admin screens.
Do I get a real app, or a template?
A real app. Kliv builds around your program rules, member types, pairing process, approval steps, and privacy needs.
Can I change it after it’s built?
Yes. You can add profile fields, change pair rules, add rooms, turn dues on, or revise digests later.
Who can see a student’s profile?
Signed-in program members only. Contact details can remain hidden until a mentorship pair is accepted.
What keeps postings and rooms appropriate?
A moderation queue. Internship postings wait for approve-or-reject before students see them, and room posts can be flagged into the same queue.
Do alumni have to pay?
Your call. You can run it free or charge dues. A free membership and a paid membership can use the same join and access flow.
Can we import old alumni spreadsheets?
Yes. Class years, employers, specialties, and addresses can become directory records that alumni later claim and correct themselves.
Can office-hours slots overbook?
The slot capacity is checked in the database. Once a one-seat slot is booked, the next student is offered another time or waitlisted.
Can I use my own domain?
Yes. The platform can run on your own domain and go live as soon as you build it.
Can I move off Kliv later?
Yes. The code syncs to your own Git repository, so leaving is a git pull, not a rebuild.
Will public pages show up in search?
Yes, if you choose to publish public pages. They are prerendered for search engines and AI assistants.
Do I need a separate member admin?
No. Profiles, rooms, bookings, internship approvals, dues, and page text can all be managed inside the app.

Build the program around your rules
Describe who may join, who may mentor, what a pair can see, how office hours book, and whether dues apply. Kliv builds the platform around those rules.
