    What is Kliv?

Kliv isn’t a large tutor directory you sign up for and configure — it’s an AI app builder that builds software for you.

You describe the app you need in your own words, and Kliv builds it: the data, the rules, the screens, and the checkout. What you get is a real app that’s yours. You can use it, change it later by asking for changes, and run payments through your own Stripe account. It isn’t a template with your name on it.

On this page, that app is a tutor finding and hiring platform for your own matching process. Kliv builds all kinds of web apps; this is one of them, and that’s what the rest of this page covers.

Why build your own tutor-finding platform?

Large tutor directories often let anyone list and leave families to sort through profiles. A small tutoring collective may sell something different: vetted tutors, careful matching, the right exam board, and a short list a family can trust.

Kliv builds the matching desk around that process. Requests, tutor files, engagements, session reports, and the ledger live in one database, so a tutor with an expired check is not offered to a new family.

    Request and tutor records

The records that keep introductions honest.

    Request

Subject, exam board, year group, preferred day, and area arrive as a structured row instead of an email to reread late at night.

    Tutor file

Profile, subjects, references, and check dates. If a background check lapses, the tutor is hidden from new introductions until renewed.

    Engagement

Family, tutor, standing weekly slot, agreed rate, and the sessions produced since the trial all live in one place.

    Session reports

Tutors file what was covered and what still needs work after each hour. Each family reads its own child’s reports and no one else’s.

    Ledger

Each paid hour splits into the tutor’s line and the collective’s share. Monthly statements assemble from rows that already exist.

    An example: Imogen’s tutoring collective

Here’s how one collective might use it. It’s only an example — you would describe your own subjects, vetting rules, matching process, prices, reports, and ledger.

    01

A family request arrives ready to match

A parent asks for Year 10 maths, Edexcel, Thursdays after five, near Chorlton. By breakfast, Imogen sees a row with the details the match needs.

    02

Only current vetted tutors are offered

The matcher returns tutors with a current check and a Thursday opening. A tutor whose renewal is overdue is not listed.

    03

The trial is booked and paid

The family books a £42 trial session online. The tutor files a report that evening: quadratics fine, fractions wobbly, Thursdays suit.

    04

A standing slot becomes an engagement

The family continues with a standing Thursday slot and a six-week block. Sessions are invoiced or paid as they happen.

    05

The ledger splits each paid hour

Every paid session creates the tutor’s line and the collective’s share, so monthly statements do not require Sunday arithmetic.

    06

    Reports make rebooking easier

By half-term, the family has six reports and rebooks without being chased. Imogen can see engagements held, hours taught, and the collective’s share.

Describe the tutor platform you want

Kliv builds from your description, so the more detail you give, the closer the first version. Include request fields, vetting rules, matching flow, prices, reports, and payment splits. Here are three to build on:

    kliv.dev

    GCSE tutoring collective

Vetted tutors, paid trials, reports, and split ledger.

“Build a tutor finding and hiring platform for my collective of forty GCSE and A-level tutors. Families should submit subject, exam board, year group, preferred time, and area; I should send three vetted tutor profiles; trial sessions should cost £42 and be paid online; tutors should file per-session reports parents can read; and the ledger should split each paid hour between the tutor and the collective.”

    kliv.dev

    Music teachers network

    Instrument matching and term invoices.

“Build a platform that matches families with vetted local music teachers by instrument, grade, travel area, and preferred day. Trial lessons should cost £35, standing weekly slots should roll into term invoices, and teachers should file brief progress notes after each lesson.”

    kliv.dev

    University peer tutoring

Free sessions with caps per student.

“Build a peer-tutoring hub for our university where students request help by course code, approved tutors post availability, sessions are free, and each student is capped at six booked sessions per term.”

What makes an introduction safe to send

Vetting stays human; enforcement becomes automatic. You still decide whether a tutor belongs in the collective. Kliv enforces the file: references recorded, check dates current, and no expired tutor offered to new families.

The money is recorded clearly. Parents can pay at booking through your own Stripe account. The ledger records the split per hour, and scheduled monthly statements can be generated for tutors.

The platform can grow into courses. If the collective later runs an Easter revision course, the same catalog can sell seats. Kliv for when you own the curriculum too covers that wider case.

    Common questions

    What exactly is Kliv?

Kliv is an AI app builder that builds custom web apps from a description. For tutor matching, it can build request forms, tutor files, vetting rules, introductions, trial booking, reports, payments, and ledgers.

Do I get a real app, or a template?

A real app. Kliv builds the data, screens, access rules, and workflows for your matching desk.

Can I change it after it’s built?

Yes. You can change request fields, vetting rules, matching steps, prices, report templates, and ledger splits later by asking.

    Does Kliv vet the tutors?

No. You vet tutors to your own standard. Kliv enforces what your file says, such as references recorded and check dates current.

    How do tutors get paid?

Families can pay at booking through your Stripe account. The ledger splits each paid hour into tutor and collective lines, and monthly statements can generate on schedule. You still settle statements from your bank.

Can families book without going through me?

After the trial, yes, if you allow it. New families can still start with the request form because careful matching is the product.

Who can read a child’s session reports?

The family, the tutor who wrote the report, and your admin users. The report belongs to the engagement, and access follows that rule.

Can a tutor disappear from introductions when a check expires?

Yes. An expired check can hide the tutor from new family introductions until the file is renewed.

    Do families need Stripe accounts?

No. Families pay by card. Stripe is how the money reaches your account.

Can I offer free sessions with caps?

Yes. A university or nonprofit tutoring hub can keep sessions free and enforce per-student caps instead of taking payment.

Can I move off Kliv later?

Yes. The app’s code syncs to your own Git repository.

Do I need a separate CRM?

No. Family requests, introductions, tutor files, engagements, and reports are records inside the app.
