Build an online course platform
Kliv is an AI app builder. Describe an online course platform with ordered modules, gated videos, cohorts, submissions, critique, and certificates, and it builds it.
Just enter your idea into the text box and AI will build it for you
What is Kliv?
Kliv isn’t a course marketplace or fixed course player you sign up for and configure — it’s an AI app builder that builds software for you.
You describe the app you need in plain words, and Kliv builds it: the data, the logic, the screens, and the workflows. You own the result, run it on your own accounts, including your own Stripe account, and change it later by asking for changes. It isn’t a template with your name on it.
On this page, that app is an online course platform. Kliv builds all kinds of web apps; this is one example.
Why build your own course platform?
A course platform should match how you teach. Some courses need modules in order, gated videos, cohorts that start together, private critique, student submissions, live sessions, and certificates. Fixed course tools often make those rules into compromises.
Kliv builds the school as your own app. Students, lessons, files, submissions, cohorts, payments, and certificates become records that follow your teaching rules.
What the course platform keeps
A course needs structure under the lessons.
Modules and lessons
Modules can unlock in order, by prerequisite, or by cohort date. The rule is part of the course.
Gated videos
Lesson videos live behind the course entitlement. A copied file link without access returns nothing.
Cohorts
A cohort can start together and have its own discussion space, separate from earlier or later cohorts.
Submissions and critique
Students can submit photos or files for instructor feedback. The critique thread can stay private unless the student shares it.
Progress and certificates
Lesson completions become a progress record. When the requirements are met, the certificate issues with name and date.
An example: Rowan’s joinery school
Here’s how one course business might use it. It’s only an example — you would describe your own lessons, cohort rules, submissions, pricing, and certificates.
A student enrolls and gets access
A student pays $180 for the autumn cohort. Module one opens as soon as the purchase completes.
The lesson materials answer course questions
She watches the marking-out films, downloads the cut list, and asks the course agent which chisel appeared in lesson three. It answers from Rowan’s course materials.
Private critique stays private
She submits photos of a practice dovetail. Rowan replies with two things to fix, and nobody else sees the thread unless she shares it.
The live session returns to the module
The mid-course Q&A is booked through the school’s Calendly, and the recording lands back in the course for students who missed it.
Completion issues a certificate
When the final lesson is complete, the certificate issues with the student’s name and date.
Follow-up runs after the course
A scheduled email asks for a review a week later, so Rowan does not have to remember every cohort manually.
Describe the course platform you want
Kliv builds from your description, so include modules, access rules, prices, cohorts, submissions, feedback, and certificates. Here are three examples:
Joinery masterclass
Ordered modules, critique, and a certificate.
“Build an online course platform for my hand-tool joinery school. Sell a six-week cohort for $180, unlock six ordered modules one by one, gate lesson videos by purchase, include downloadable cut lists, accept student photo submissions for instructor critique, and issue a certificate with name and date on completion.”
Watercolor school
Monthly access and student gallery.
“Build an online watercolor school with a $19 monthly all-access subscription, new lessons each month, beginner and advanced tracks, a student gallery with instructor picks, and private feedback threads for submitted paintings.”
Exam-prep course
Timed quizzes and weak-spot tracking.
“Build an exam preparation course with timed practice quizzes, per-topic progress tracking, explanations that unlock after each attempt, a mock-exam week before the test date, and certificates for students who finish all required practice.”
How it comes together
The gate is on the file. Course video lives in the file store with access rules of its own. The purchase entitlement opens the file.
Several ways to sell can share one catalog. A $180 course, a $19 monthly school, a free taster, and an early-bird price can all run through the same checkout.
The agent answers from the course. Lessons, cut lists, and FAQs can feed a course assistant, with each exchange stored on the student’s record.
Tests can check access. A Scenario can enroll a test student, finish a module, and prove an unenrolled visitor cannot fetch a lesson video.
When the school grows into a larger catalog, the courses solutions page continues the story.
Common questions
What exactly is Kliv?
Kliv is an AI app builder. You describe your course platform, and it builds a real app for lessons, videos, students, payments, submissions, and certificates.
Do I get a real app, or a template?
A real app. Modules, lessons, access rules, cohorts, submissions, critique, and certificates are structured records built for your course.
Can I change it after it’s built?
Yes. You can ask for new modules, changed unlock rules, new payment options, or different certificate rules later.
Can lessons unlock in order?
Yes. Lessons can unlock by prerequisite, by cohort calendar, or by another rule you describe.
Are the videos actually protected?
Yes. Videos are files with access rules opened by the purchase entitlement. A shared URL without access returns nothing.
Can I run cohorts and self-paced courses at once?
Yes. A course can start together on a date, run self-paced with prerequisites, or use both patterns.
How do refunds work when someone drops out?
Refunds wait for your approval before money moves, and access can close with the refund. You can also issue credit toward a future cohort.
Do students need their own Stripe accounts?
No. Students pay by card. Stripe processes payments into your own account.
Does Kliv take a cut of course sales?
No. Payments run through your own Stripe account. Card processing fees are between you and Stripe.
Can I use my own domain?
Yes. The course platform can run on your own domain.
Can I move off Kliv later?
Yes. The code syncs to your own Git repository, so leaving is a git pull, not a rebuild.
