What is Kliv?

Kliv isn’t an electricity broker or a utility price feed — it’s an AI that builds software for you.

You describe the app you need in plain words, and Kliv builds it: the database, the logic, the screens, the reminders, and the reports. You own the result, run it on your own domain, and change it later by asking. It isn’t a template you fill in.

On this page, that app is an electricity contract manager for a multi-site business. Kliv builds all kinds of web apps; this is one example.

Why build your own electricity contract manager?

A multi-site business can have dozens of supply contracts, each with its own supplier, rate, end date, and notice window. Comparison websites are usually built for one home meter. They don’t handle a portfolio with broker offers arriving in different formats and contracts stored as PDFs.

Kliv builds the register around your sites. Each contract becomes a row, each notice window counts down, and each offer is restated as “what would last year have cost at this site?” The decision record stays readable later, when someone asks why one supplier was chosen over another.

The contract, unfolded

Five records replace the folder of PDFs. Each one makes a real part of the decision visible.

The site file

Each site has its meter points, last 12 months of usage, and current contract. An offer only makes sense when it is priced against that site’s numbers.

The contract

Supplier, unit rate, standing charge, start date, end date, and notice window are stored as fields the register can use, not clauses someone has to reread.

Offers

Every quote is restated the same way: total annual cost at this site’s usage, next to the incumbent contract. Three brokers can send three formats; the register gives you one comparison.

The decision record

Who chose the supplier, when, and why, with the runner-up kept beside it. The reason survives the person who made the call.

Invoices against contracts

Each monthly bill is checked against the contracted unit rate and standing charge. If a line disagrees with the contract, it becomes a task with a due date.

What the register does between renewals

The useful work happens before the renewal week and after the contract is signed.

Renewal reminders

Reminders go to the right people 90, 60, and 30 days before each notice window closes. If nobody acknowledges a renewal, it appears on the monthly operations agenda.

Offer intake

A broker spreadsheet or supplier PDF is entered once and restated by code. The same calculation applies each site’s usage to each offered rate, every time.

SearchCheck

Invoice rate checks

A scheduled job compares invoice lines with the contract they should follow and lists mismatches while they are still refundable.

Eye

Auditor access

A read-only role can see contracts, offers, and decisions, but cannot edit them. Site managers see their own site’s summary; finance sees the portfolio.

An example: Aurelia’s self-storage portfolio

Here’s how one business might use an electricity contract manager built with Kliv. It’s only an example — you would describe your own sites, suppliers, usage, and approval rules.

01

She brings 28 contracts into one register

Aurelia looks after finance and facilities for a self-storage operator with 28 sites. Each site gets its supplier, rates, meter points, end date, notice window, and PDF contract attached to the same record.

02

The notice windows become visible early

The register starts counting down before each auto-rollover clause can become a problem. Reminders go out 90, 60, and 30 days before a window closes.

03

Broker offers become comparable

Three brokers send offers in different formats. Kliv restates each one as total annual cost using the site’s last 12 months of usage, so a small-site rate cannot hide what it would do to a large site.

04

The chosen offer keeps its reasoning

Aurelia records who picked the winner, which offer came second, and why. Two years later, the decision is still readable without searching old email.

05

Invoices are checked against the signed rate

Each month, invoice lines are compared with the contract. A standing charge or unit rate mismatch becomes a named task before the refund window disappears.

Describe what you want to build

Kliv builds from your description, so the more detail you give, the closer the first version. Name your sites, rates, usage, reminder dates, and approval rules. Here are three to build on:

kliv.dev

Contract renewal register

Sites, suppliers, rates, dates, and escalating reminders.

“Build a contract register for our 28 business sites. Store each site’s supplier, meter points, unit rate, standing charge, contract end date, and notice window. Send reminders to facilities 90, 60, and 30 days before each notice window closes, and escalate unacknowledged renewals to the monthly operations agenda.”

kliv.dev

Offer comparison desk

Broker offers restated against each site’s real usage.

“Build an electricity offer comparison tool where we enter broker offers per site, including unit rate, standing charge, start date, and term. Restate each offer as total annual cost using that site’s last 12 months of usage, compare it with the incumbent contract, and store the chosen supplier and reason.”

kliv.dev

Invoice rate checker

Monthly bills checked against contract terms.

“Build a checker that loads monthly electricity invoices for each site, compares every unit-rate and standing-charge line with the signed contract, flags mismatches over £5, and creates a follow-up task with the invoice PDF attached.”

Numbers with their working shown

The comparison calculation lives in a typed TypeScript function you can read. It uses the same arithmetic for every offer, every site, and every year, with the assumptions written down. Contracts attach to their rows in the file store, private by default. The register holds the dates and rates; the PDF holds the signatures.

When the numbers change — a site is added or a meter is re-profiled — the schema can change with them in conversation. Each contract row keeps its history through the change.

Half of office work is translating outside formats into your own records. Internal tools that do the translating are a pattern worth owning; this is the electricity version.

Common questions

What exactly is Kliv?

Kliv is an AI app builder. You describe the internal tool you need, it builds the app, and you own the result. For electricity comparison and contract management, that means a register for sites, contracts, offers, reminders, invoices, and decision records.

Do I get a real app, or a template?

A real app. Kliv builds the database, screens, calculations, reminders, and access rules for your process. It is not a spreadsheet skin or a fixed contract template.

Can I change it after it’s built?

Yes. You ask for changes in plain words. Add a meter type, change a reminder interval, add an approval step, or revise the offer calculation without starting over.

Does Kliv fetch live electricity prices?

No. Offers come from your brokers and suppliers. The app’s job is to restate those offers honestly against each site’s real usage and keep the decision record.

Our sites have different usage. Does comparison still work?

Yes. Each offer is priced against that site’s last 12 months of usage, so the comparison is site-specific. A rate that looks good for one site is not allowed to hide its cost at another.

Who can see the contracts?

You set the roles. Finance can edit, site managers can read their own site summary, and auditors can get read-only access across contracts, offers, and decisions.

What if we still miss a window?

The register makes the risk visible early with reminders and escalation. If a window is still missed, the record shows which site, which clause, and which reminders were sent.

Can it check invoices against signed rates?

Yes. Monthly invoice lines can be compared with the contract’s unit rate and standing charge. Mismatches become tasks while they can still be challenged.

Can we keep PDFs attached?

Yes. Signed contracts and supplier documents live in the file store and stay attached to the relevant contract or offer row.

Can I use my own domain?

Yes. The app runs on your own domain, with the access rules you describe.

Can I move off Kliv later?

Yes. The code syncs to your own Git repository, so leaving is a git pull, not a rebuild.

Do I need a separate reporting tool?

No. The app can produce the comparison view, renewal list, invoice mismatch list, and audit view from the same records it uses to run the process.
