    What is Kliv?

Kliv isn’t a course marketplace or a video host — it’s an AI app builder that builds software for you.

You describe the school you want in your own words, and Kliv builds the real app: the data, the logic, the screens, payment flow if you charge for enrollment, and the access rules. You own it, run it on your own accounts, and change it later by asking. It is not a template.

On this page, that app is a cohort-based coding course platform with submissions, reviews, weekly units, and capstone pages. Kliv builds all kinds of web apps; this is one.

Why build your own coding school platform?

A coding course often needs more than video lessons. Gunnar teaches sixteen career-switchers at a time, and his course works because students submit work, get reviewed by someone senior, and resubmit until the work holds up.

Large course platforms handle hosting and quizzes. Gunnar’s product is the loop: submit, review, resubmit. Kliv builds that loop as his own app, with states on every submission, history on every review, and a cohort that moves through the weeks together.

    What the platform handles

The course needs records for the parts that matter.

    Cohorts

A cohort has sixteen seats, fixed dates, and its own room. The seventeenth applicant goes to a waitlist because checkout respects the seat count.

    Submissions

Every exercise is a record with files, check results, and a state: submitted, in review, resubmit, or done. Work does not get lost in messages.

    Review queue

Instructor comments attach to the submission they judge. Resubmissions stack under the first attempt, so progress is visible over time.

    Week-gated units

Week five opens in week five. The syllabus is data, so the cohort moves together instead of scattering across the material.

    Cohort rooms

Discussion is scoped to the people in that cohort. Cohort three does not read cohort two’s threads.

    Capstones

Final projects get public pages on the school’s own domain, so graduates leave with links they can put on a résumé.

An example: Gunnar’s evening code school

Here’s how one school might use it. It’s only an example — you would describe your own course, cohort size, price, review rules, and projects.

    01

    Dmitri buys a seat

Dmitri takes seat eleven of sixteen and pays the $1,150 cohort fee. His enrollment, access, and seat are one record from the start.

    02

The checks catch the first problem

In week two, Dmitri submits an exercise that fails two of Gunnar’s checks. The result is on the submission before any human review starts.

    03

The review teaches the next attempt

Gunnar leaves nine comments in the review queue. Dmitri resubmits, and the second attempt files under the first so the lesson is visible.

    04

    The cohort moves together

New units open by week, and the cohort room stays scoped to the sixteen students in that group.

    05

    The capstone goes public

In week nine, Dmitri’s inventory tool gets a public page in the showcase, live on the school’s domain and readable by search engines.

    06

    Graduation changes access

When the course ends, Dmitri becomes an alumnus. He keeps the library, his submission history, and his capstone page because the role decides what stays open.

Describe the course platform you want

Kliv builds from your description, so include the cohort size, price, review states, checks, access rules, and what students keep after the course.

    Evening code school

Paid cohorts, checks, reviews, and capstones.

“Build a cohort-based coding school with 16 seats per cohort and a $1,150 enrollment fee. Students submit exercises, automated checks run on each submission, I review work through submitted, resubmit, and done states, and graduates publish public capstone pages.”

    kliv.dev

    Code review classroom

Submission loop as the core product.

“Build a classroom app where students submit JavaScript exercises, automated tests run immediately, failed work moves to resubmit, and I leave line-by-line comments before marking the attempt done.”

    kliv.dev

    Open-source apprenticeship

    Mentored contributions with milestones.

“Build an apprenticeship platform where mentees pick issues from a curated list, log pull requests, mentors review each milestone, and mentees keep a public profile of completed contributions after graduation.”

    How the course works

Enrollment controls access. The $1,150 fee runs through checkout on Gunnar’s own Stripe account. Units, the cohort room, and the review queue all read from the enrollment record.

Checks handle the first pass. Each exercise can run the checks Gunnar wrote for it and record the result, so human review starts with judgment instead of triage.

The showcase helps the school. Capstone pages are public pages on the school’s domain, readable by search engines and AI crawlers. Each cohort adds more proof that the school works.

This page is one classroom. Kliv for courses covers cohorts, completions, certificates, and the business of teaching.

    Common questions

    What exactly is Kliv?

Kliv is an AI app builder that builds custom web apps from a description. For a coding course, it can build the cohort, submission, review, access, and capstone parts around your rules.

Do I get a real app, or a template?

A real app. Kliv builds the database, screens, and logic for your course instead of giving you a fixed course theme.

Can I change it after it’s built?

Yes. You can ask for new review states, different cohort rules, extra fields, or changed pages later.

    Does Kliv grade the code?

No. Kliv can run checks you define for each exercise, but the review judgment remains yours.

Can students see each other’s work?

Only where your syllabus allows it. Solo submissions can be private to the student and reviewer, while capstones can be public.

Can two cohorts run at once?

Yes. Cohorts are records. Spring and summer can run side by side with separate rooms, dates, and queues.

    What do alumni keep?

Whatever you choose. In Gunnar’s example, alumni keep the library, submission history, and capstone page.

    Can I charge for enrollment?

Yes. Paid enrollment can run through checkout on your own Stripe account, with access tied to the purchase.

Can I use my own domain?

Yes. The school and public capstone pages can run on your own domain.

Can I move off Kliv later?

Yes. The code syncs to your own Git repository, so leaving is a git pull.

Will capstone pages show up in search?

Yes. Public pages can be prerendered so search engines and AI assistants can read them.
