Build a custom gift card and merchant management system
Kliv is an AI app builder. Describe your gift card and merchant management system — card sales, redemptions, balances, merchant portals, and settlements — and it builds it on your own Stripe account.
Just enter your idea into the text box and AI will build it for you
What is Kliv?
Kliv isn’t a generic gift card add-on you sign up for and configure — it’s an AI app builder that builds software for you.
You describe what you need in your own words, and Kliv builds it: the database, the logic, the screens, and the rules. What you get is a real, working app that’s yours. You can use it, change it later by asking for changes, and run it on your own accounts, including your own Stripe account for card sales. It isn’t a template with your name on it.
On this page, that app is a shared gift card and merchant management system for your program. Kliv builds all kinds of web apps; this is one example, and that’s what the rest of this page covers.
Why a shared card needs a ledger
A shared gift card program is more than a code and a balance. The association sells the card, many shops redeem it, every remaining balance must be correct, and the treasurer has to settle with merchants from verified numbers.
Kliv builds the system as a ledger. Cards sell through checkout. Redemptions write rows. Balances are computed, not edited. Each merchant sees its own redemptions and statements. The treasurer pays from a clear settlement statement instead of reconciling paper logs.
One card, both sides of the counter
Five records keep trust between the shops.
Cards and balances
A card has issued value and redemption rows. Its balance is computed from those rows, not typed into a field.
Member shops
Each merchant signs into a portal scoped to its own redemptions and statements. Other shops’ numbers are outside its access rule.
Redemptions
The counter enters the card code and amount. The ledger accepts what the balance covers and refuses any amount above it.
Settlements
Each shop gets a monthly statement built from verified redemptions. The treasurer pays from the statement, so settlement remains a human decision.
The program dashboard
Sold versus redeemed, outstanding value, and shop activity are visible for the board meeting, current from the ledger.
An example: Priya’s downtown gift card program
Here’s how one merchants association might use it. It’s only an example — you would describe your own card values, redemption rules, merchant access, promotions, and settlement process.
A corporate order creates many cards
Priya’s association sells forty $50 cards to a law office in one checkout. Forty codes email out, and forty card ledgers open.
A shop redeems from a browser
The first redemption happens at the bookshop. The clerk enters the code and $18.75 in the portal. No new hardware is needed.
The ledger prevents over-redemption
A card with $6.25 left meets a $30 lunch. The portal accepts only the remaining balance and tells the shop what is left to collect another way.
Monthly statements are ready on time
On January 1, each merchant’s December statement is waiting. The treasurer pays twenty-three shops from verified redemption totals.
The audit is a card history
A card bought last winter turns up in a drawer. Its history is the issued row and redemption rows, with the remaining balance computed from them.
Describe the gift card system you want to build
Kliv builds from your description, so the more detail you give, the closer the first version. Include card values, promotions, redemption rules, merchant access, settlements, and reports. Here are three to build on:
Downtown gift card
One card, many shops, one ledger.
“Build a downtown gift card program for our merchants association. Sell $50 and $100 digital cards online, redeem by code at any member shop from a browser portal, compute balances from ledger rows, let each shop see only its own redemptions, and create monthly settlement statements for 23 shops.”
Cafe group cards
Gift cards across three locations.
“Build a gift card system for our three cafes with online purchase, code redemption at any counter, customer balance lookup, per-location redemption reports, and monthly summaries for the finance team.”
Card and loyalty combo
Gift cards with bonus value.
“Build a gift card and merchant portal where cards double as loyalty accounts. Let customers top up online, give a $10 bonus value on $100 top-ups during the holiday promotion dates, and let merchants see only their own redemption history.”
The ledger behind the card
Cards sell through checkout. $50 and $100 cards can sell on the association’s own Stripe account. A holiday promotion such as buy $100, carry $110 can be a dated catalog rule that opens and closes on schedule.
December can be tested first. In the Sandbox, the treasurer can run a corporate order, a redemption rush, and a refund before connecting Stripe or asking merchants to trust the system.
Refunds wait for approval. If a card is bought twice by mistake, the refund sits in an approval queue until a person agrees. Money leaves the program only on a recorded yes.
Gift cards use one part of the commerce engine. The full catalog-to-tax picture is on the commerce page.
Common questions
What exactly is Kliv?
Kliv is an AI app builder. You describe the software you need, it builds the working app, and you own the result. For this page, that means a shared card ledger with online sales, code redemptions, merchant portals, balances, settlement statements, and program reporting. Card sales run through your own Stripe account.
Do I get a real app, or a template?
A real app. Kliv builds the data, rules, and screens for your specific case, not a pre-made theme you fill in. You keep changing it by describing what you want different.
Can I change it after it’s built?
Yes. Ask for changes in plain words and Kliv updates the app. You can adjust fields, workflows, pages, emails, access rules, and reports without starting over.
Does this need new hardware at the counters?
No. Redemption is a code typed into the merchant portal in a browser. It is not a bank card terminal.
What stops a shop from over-redeeming a card?
The ledger rejects any redemption above the remaining balance when the row is written. The balance is computed from the card’s own rows.
How do merchants get paid?
Card revenue lands in the association’s Stripe account. Each shop’s monthly statement totals verified redemptions, and the treasurer pays from the statement.
Do merchants or customers need their own Stripe accounts?
No. Customers pay by card online. Merchants redeem through the portal. Stripe is connected to the association’s account.
Can cards expire?
Expiry is your policy and must follow your jurisdiction’s rules. The system can enforce what you set and report outstanding value.
Can we run a holiday bonus?
Yes. A dated catalog rule can make a $100 purchase carry $110 of card value during selected dates.
Can each shop see only its own data?
Yes. Merchant access is scoped to its own redemptions and statements.
Can customers check balances?
Yes. You can include a balance lookup by code if that is part of your program.
Can we test before launch?
Yes. The Sandbox can exercise purchases, redemptions, settlements, and refunds before real payments are connected.
Can I use my own domain?
Yes. Customer purchase pages and merchant portals can run on your own domain.
