Build AI-powered product recommendation and discovery
Kliv is an AI app builder. Describe your catalog, matching rules, stock counts, bundles, and assistant questions, and it builds product recommendation and discovery for your store.
Just enter your idea into the text box and AI will build it for you
What is Kliv?
Kliv isn’t a recommendation widget or storefront plug-in — it’s an AI app builder that creates software for you.
You describe the app you need in plain words, and Kliv builds it: catalog records, matching rules, search, assistant flows, stock logic, checkout, and customer pages. For commerce, payments run on your own Stripe account. You can change the app later by asking. It isn’t a template.
On this page, that app is AI-powered product recommendation and discovery for a specialty store. Kliv builds all kinds of web apps; this is one example.
Why build your own discovery flow?
Maren runs a hand-dyed yarn label. Shoppers arrive with a project, not a SKU: a worsted baby blanket, machine-washable, enough yardage, and one dye lot. A search bar cannot answer whether a yarn works for that project.
Kliv builds discovery from Maren’s own catalog and rules. Matching can use weight, fiber, care, yardage, dye-lot counts, pattern requirements, substitution rules, and product notes. The store recommends what Maren would defend across the counter.
The catalog records
Recommendations work because the catalog has the right structure.
Bases and colorways
Each base stores weight, fiber, meters per skein, and care. Each colorway stores photos and Maren’s notes.
Dye lots
Stock is counted per lot, so eleven skeins in one lot and eleven skeins across several lots are treated differently.
The substitution table
When a base retires, Maren records suitable replacements with the same gauge, similar drape, and what changes.
Pattern requirements
A pattern stores gauge, needle size, and yardage by size. Project-to-skein matching is arithmetic the app can perform.
The clerk assistant
The assistant asks the shop’s questions and answers from the catalog and signed-in shopper’s own history.
Project pages
Customer finished-object photos can link to the yarns used, giving future shoppers proof from real projects.
An example: Maren’s yarn shop
Here’s how one store might use it. It’s only an example — you would describe your own catalog, matching rules, stock rules, bundles, and customer pages.
A shopper describes the project
A first-time visitor types baby blanket, worsted, machine-washable. She does not need a SKU or shop vocabulary.
Rules create a useful shortlist
The app filters to superwash worsted bases with enough yardage in stock. The three-skein estimate comes from the pattern numbers.
The dye-lot count prevents a bad order
The chosen colorway has nine skeins of lot 4418, enough for the blanket. The listing can say that because stock is counted by lot.
A bundle puts the project in one checkout
The pattern PDF, three skeins, and correct needles become one $86 bundle in the catalog.
A finished project helps the next shopper
Four weeks later, the customer posts a finished blanket photo linked to the colorway. Future shoppers can see the result.
Restock alerts run from stock records
When the colorway is dyed again, opted-in customers receive a restock note from a scheduled job watching the stock table.
Describe what you want to build
Kliv builds from your description, so include catalog attributes, matching rules, stock limits, bundles, and what the assistant should ask. Here are three examples:
Yarn shop matcher
Weight, care, yardage, dye lots, and bundles.
“Build a yarn storefront where customers describe a project and get matches on weight, fiber, care, gauge, and yardage. Count stock by dye lot, show why each yarn matched, create $86 bundles with pattern PDF, three skeins, and needles, and send restock alerts to opted-in customers.”
Skincare routine finder
Quiz-mapped routines and ingredient rules.
“Build a skincare shop where a short quiz maps skin type, sensitivities, and concerns to a morning and evening routine. Use ingredient conflict rules I define, explain why each product is included, and offer refills on a $24 monthly subscription.”
Bike part fit
Only compatible components shown.
“Build a bike parts store where customers pick frame, drivetrain, wheel size, and brake type, then see only compatible components from a fit-rules table I maintain, with the reason for every match shown before checkout.”
What powers the recommendation
The recommendation uses inspectable inputs. Attribute rules, semantic search over Maren’s own product notes, and stock counts all come from the catalog. The app can show why an item matched.
Launch pricing can be scheduled. A colorway drop can open at one price and step up later because the catalog says so on a specific date.
The arithmetic can be tested. Yardage matching can be covered by unit tests, so three skeins means three skeins consistently.
Checkout can be rehearsed. Test payments let you run checkout, refunds, and failed cards before real Stripe payments are connected.
The whole direct-to-consumer store — drops, subscriptions, post-purchase email, and more — is covered at the direct-to-consumer solutions page.
Common questions
What exactly is Kliv?
Kliv is an AI app builder that creates custom web apps from a description. For product discovery, it can build catalog records, matching rules, semantic search, stock logic, bundles, checkout, and assistant flows.
Do I get a real app, or a template?
A real app. Kliv builds the store, database, rules, pages, checkout, and workflows around your catalog.
Can I change it after it’s built?
Yes. You can change catalog attributes, matching rules, stock rules, bundles, prices, and assistant questions later.
Does it recommend from the whole internet?
No. Recommendations come from your catalog, rules, descriptions, and stock records.
What powers a recommendation?
In the source example: attribute rules such as weight and care, semantic search over product notes, pattern yardage math, and dye-lot stock counts.
Can the app explain why something matched?
Yes. Because the recommendation uses inspectable rules and records, the page can show the reason for a match.
Can a customer buy more of a lot than exists?
No. The lot count is the limit. When a lot reaches zero, it cannot be sold from that lot.
Can I create bundles?
Yes. The source example bundles a pattern PDF, three skeins, and needles into one $86 checkout.
Does Kliv take a cut?
No. Payments run through your own Stripe account. Card fees are between you and Stripe.
Do customers need Stripe accounts?
No. They just pay by card.
Can I move from another storefront?
Yes. Bring the catalog as an export, map bases, colorways, stock, and descriptions into records, and improve the data over time.
Can I move off Kliv later?
Yes. The app’s code syncs to your own Git repository, and your catalog and order records are exportable.
