Nonprofit & NGO Management
Build a food donation and rescue management system
Kliv is an AI app builder. Describe your food donation and rescue system — surplus flags, driver claims, temperature logs, pantry receipts, donor statements, and sustainers — and it builds the app on your own domain.
Just enter your idea into the text box and AI will build it for you
What is Kliv?
Kliv isn’t a generic volunteer tool or donor database — it’s an AI that builds software for you.
You describe the app you need in your own words, and Kliv builds it: the forms, records, roles, logistics, statements, and public pages. What you get is a real web app that’s yours, on your own domain, and you can change it later by asking. It isn’t a template with nonprofit labels.
On this page, that app is a food rescue management system. Kliv builds all kinds of web apps; this page focuses on surplus, pickup runs, cold-chain records, pantry receipts, donor statements, and sustainers.
Why build your own food rescue system?
Food rescue moves quickly, but it also needs proof: what was offered, who picked it up, what temperature it held, what a pantry accepted, and what each donor gave. A group chat can move fast, but it does not produce reliable records.
Kliv builds the rescue as one system of record. Flags, runs, temperature logs, receipts, statements, certificates, and giving can all stay connected.
What moves on a rescue run
Six records carry the operation from donor to pantry.
Surplus flag
A store can record pounds, category, best-by date, and pickup window from the loading dock.
Pickup run
One driver claims a run exclusively. Once claimed, it leaves other volunteers’ available lists.
Cold-chain log
Pickup and delivery temperatures can store timestamp and driver name for later inspection.
Pantry receipt
The pantry records what arrived, what was accepted, what was declined, and why.
Donor statement
Monthly pounds by store can be assembled and emailed to the donor’s head office.
Sustainers
Monthly gifts such as $21 donations can run through the organization’s Stripe account, with retry emails for failed cards.
An example: Camille’s food rescue
Here’s how one rescue operation might use it. It’s only an example — you would describe your own donors, drivers, pantries, compliance rules, and statements.
A grocer flags surplus fast
At 5:47 p.m., a store flags 300 pounds of yogurt with a best-by date and a 6 to 8 pickup window.
One driver claims the run
A volunteer claims the run at 5:52. The run disappears from every other driver’s list, so two vehicles do not chase the same pickup.
Temperature is recorded at pickup
At the dock, the driver logs 38 degrees with timestamp and name. The cold-chain record starts while the food is moving.
The pantry signs for what it accepted
The pantry accepts 290 pounds and declines 10 for damage, with the reason recorded.
Statements and reports come from the same rows
At month end, the store gets its donation statement, and Camille can report pounds by neighborhood, store, and month for grants.
Describe what you want to build
Kliv builds from your description, so the more detail you give, the closer the first version. Include donor roles, driver rules, temperature fields, receipts, statements, and giving. Here are three to build on:
Grocery rescue dispatch
Flags, exclusive runs, temperatures, and pantry receipts.
“Build a food rescue app where grocery stores flag surplus with pounds, category, best-by date, and pickup window. Volunteer drivers should claim runs exclusively, temperatures should be logged at pickup and delivery with timestamp and driver name, and pantries should sign receipts showing accepted and declined pounds.”
Donor statement engine
Monthly pounds per store.
“Build a donation tracking system that totals rescued pounds per grocery store by month, includes accepted and declined amounts by category, and emails each store a monthly statement for its records.”
Sustainer campaign site
Monthly giving for the vans.
“Build a monthly giving page for our food rescue. Sustainers should give $21 a month through our Stripe account, manage their own card, receive receipts, and see a dashboard showing pounds diverted in their neighborhood.”
Logistics with receipts
Certificates can control claiming. Driver food-handler cards can live in the file store with expiry dates. An expired certificate can close claiming until a renewal is uploaded.
Scheduled jobs can handle follow-up. The app can reconcile daily runs, chase unsigned pantry receipts, and assemble monthly donor statements after hours.
Partners can have narrow access. A store can raise flags and read its own statements. A pantry can see incoming runs. Neither needs access beyond its role.
Rescue is the logistics side of nonprofit work. Fundraising, boards, campaigns, and annual reports are covered on nonprofits on Kliv.
Common questions
What exactly is Kliv?
Kliv is an AI that builds custom web apps from a description. For food rescue, it can build donor forms, dispatch, driver views, logs, receipts, statements, and giving pages.
Do I get a real app, or a template?
A real app. Your donors, drivers, pantries, certificate rules, temperature fields, and reports are built around your operation.
Can I change it after it’s built?
Yes. You can add donor types, change receipt fields, alter driver rules, or change statement formats later.
What does the health inspector get?
A filterable record of temperatures at pickup and delivery, with timestamps, driver names, stores, pantries, and runs.
Do grocery stores need accounts?
Light accounts can let stores raise flags and read their own statements without seeing other stores’ data.
What happens when a driver’s certificate expires?
The certificate can carry an expiry date. Claiming can close for that driver until a renewal is uploaded.
Can one driver claim a run exclusively?
Yes. A run can be held by one driver, then disappear from other available lists.
Can sustainers give monthly?
Yes. Monthly giving can run through your own Stripe account, with receipts and card-update flows.
Do donors or sustainers need Stripe accounts?
No. They pay by card. Payments run through your Stripe account.
Does Kliv take a cut of donations?
No. Kliv does not take a payment cut. Card fees are between you and Stripe.
Can I use my own domain?
Yes. The app and public pages can run on your own domain.
Can I move off Kliv later?
Yes. The code syncs to your own Git repository, so leaving is a git pull, not a rebuild.
