Nonprofit & NGO Management
Build a donation management system
Kliv is an AI app builder. Describe the donation management system you need — donors, gifts, funds, sponsorships, receipts, statements, and campaigns — and it builds it on your own Stripe account.
Just enter your idea into the text box and AI will build it for you
What is Kliv?
Kliv isn’t a donation platform with fixed forms — it’s an AI app builder that builds software for you.
You describe the app you need in plain words, and Kliv builds it: donation forms, donor records, funds, receipts, statements, campaigns, dashboards, and access rules. You own the result, run payments on your own Stripe account, and keep changing it later by asking for changes. It isn’t a template with your logo on it.
On this page, that app is a donation management system. Kliv builds all kinds of web apps; this is one for nonprofits that need gifts, funds, sponsors, and receipts to share one record.
Why build your own donation management?
Donation tools often assume an average charity. A wildlife rescue may need monthly sponsorships for named birds, an aviary campaign, memorial gifts with dedications, offline checks, numbered receipts, and year-end statements. Those details matter to donors and to the books.
Kliv builds the giving system around your organization. Donors, gifts, funds, sponsorships, receipts, and statements are rows in your database, with payments on your own Stripe account.
What the system knows
Giving is relational data. These are the records a rescue actually needs.
Donors and history
Each donor can have every gift, amount, designation, dedication, and year they started. A thank-you call can start with the full history.
Funds and designations
General care, the flight-aviary campaign, and education can be separate funds. A gift designated to the aviary stays designated in every report.
Sponsorships
A $15 monthly gift can sponsor a named kestrel. Underneath, it is a subscription with renewals, receipts, and sponsor access tied to the active sponsorship.
Receipts and statements
Every gift can get a numbered receipt on your template. In January, a scheduled job can assemble each donor’s year-end statement.
The campaign
The aviary appeal can have a $40,000 goal, live total, and deadline. The public total and board report read the same number.
Tribute gifts
In-memory and in-honor gifts can carry dedications, and the notification card to the family can be part of the gift record.
An example: Elise’s raptor rescue
Here’s how one business might use it. It’s only an example — you would describe your own mission, funds, gifts, sponsorships, receipts, and donor rules.
The campaign goal goes public
Elise launches a flight-aviary campaign with a $40,000 goal, rescue photos, and a live total that updates with each gift.
Gifts arrive with their designations
Donors give once, start monthly bird sponsorships, and make memorial gifts. Each gift records its fund and dedication exactly as entered.
A failed card gets recovered
A sponsor’s renewal fails in month three. Retries run, a gentle email links to the card update page, and the sponsorship survives without a phone call.
The goal closes with a clean record
When the campaign crosses $40,000, the page can switch to thanks. Every gift still keeps its aviary designation for future reports.
January statements run at once
A scheduled job builds year-end statements for all donors and sends them on the rescue’s letterhead. Staff can spend January on donors, not mail merge.
Describe the donation system you want to build
Kliv builds from your description, so the more detail you give, the closer the first version. Include gift types, funds, receipts, statements, donor access, and offline handling.
Wildlife sponsorships
Named-animal monthly giving and designated funds.
“Build a donation site for our raptor rescue. Offer one-time gifts, $15 monthly sponsorships tied to named birds, designated funds for general care, education, and a $40,000 aviary campaign, automatic numbered receipts, failed-card recovery, and January year-end statements for every donor.”
Capital campaign
Goal, thermometer, and tribute gifts.
“Build a campaign page for our theater renovation. Show a $250,000 goal thermometer, accept one-time and recurring gifts, support tribute gifts with dedications and family notification cards, and report gifts by fund, donor, and campaign source.”
Monthly giving club
Levels, supporter updates, and retention.
“Build a monthly giving program with $10, $25, and $50 levels, supporter-only updates, donor self-service for cards and receipts, failed-card recovery emails, and a dashboard showing retention by start month.”
How it comes together
Recurring gifts can recover from failed cards. A monthly sponsorship can use dunning: retries run on a schedule while recovery emails go out on your templates.
Sponsor pages can open and close automatically. A kestrel’s photo feed can be gated by the active sponsorship. Active sponsors see it; lapsed sponsors do not; staff do not maintain the list by hand.
You can rehearse a giving year first. In the Sandbox, test payments and a simulated clock can run renewals, failed cards, and refunds before real donations flow through Stripe.
Donations are one part of running a nonprofit this way. Volunteers, programs, and boards are covered at See how nonprofits build on Kliv.
Common questions
What exactly is Kliv?
Kliv is an AI app builder. You describe the donation system you need, it builds the app, and you own the result. Payments run through your own Stripe account.
Do I get a real app, or a template?
A real app. Kliv builds the donor database, forms, funds, receipts, statements, campaign pages, and dashboards around your organization.
Can I change it after it’s built?
Yes. You can add funds, sponsorship types, receipt fields, donor portals, reports, or campaign pages later.
What does Kliv take from each donation?
Kliv does not price by donation volume. Card processing is between you and Stripe on your own Stripe account.
Do donors need their own Stripe accounts?
No. Donors just pay by card. Stripe is how the money reaches your organization.
Can donors manage their own giving?
Yes. Donors can sign in to update a card, change a monthly gift, or download past receipts.
How are refunds handled?
A duplicate or mistaken gift can wait for explicit approval before money moves, and the record can keep both the gift and the correction.
Can we record offline gifts?
Yes. Staff can enter checks and cash by hand with fund and dedication, and those gifts join the same donor history, reports, and year-end statements.
Can gifts be designated to a specific fund?
Yes. Designation can be a field on every gift and remain attached in campaign totals, donor history, and accounting reports.
Can monthly sponsorships unlock special pages?
Yes. Sponsor pages can be tied to the active subscription, so access opens when sponsorship starts and closes if it lapses.
Can we test a year before launch?
Yes. You can run renewals, failed cards, and refunds in the Sandbox before connecting real payments.
Can I move off Kliv later?
Yes. The code syncs to your own Git repository, so leaving is a git pull rather than a rebuild.
