What is Kliv?

Kliv isn’t a fixed compliance checklist product — it’s an AI that builds software for you.

You describe the app you need in plain words, and Kliv builds it: the case records, document vault, workflow rules, review queues, screens, and reports. What you get is a real app for your team. You can use it, change it later by asking, and keep the records in your own system. It isn’t a template.

On this page, that app is a customer onboarding and KYC system. Kliv builds all kinds of web apps; this is one example.

Why build your own onboarding and KYC system?

Generic onboarding tools manage pipelines. KYC work depends on obligations: which order opens a case, which customer type owes which documents, who can approve, and when the file must be reviewed again.

Kliv builds the desk around those obligations. Thresholds, checklists, screening receipts, approval rules, and review dates become the workflow itself.

The file behind the first invoice

Five records make a file the business can defend.

The applicant

A person or company with a stored risk rating and date. The rating is a recorded judgment, not an informal note.

The document

ID, proof of address, company extract, or proof of funds, each with class, expiry date, and restricted access. The checklist knows what is missing because documents are rows.

The check

Each verification step records who ran it, which screening provider was used, and the result reference. The provider screens; your system keeps the receipt.

The approval

Preparer and approver must be different logins. The second review is enforced by the app and stored on the case.

The review date

Risk sets the schedule: for example, high-risk yearly and standard every three years. Due files appear from data instead of memory.

An example: Agnes’s bullion shop

Here’s how one business might use it. It’s only an example — you would describe your own thresholds, document classes, screening providers, approval rules, and review schedule.

01

A threshold opens the case

A first-time order crosses the €10,000 threshold at checkout. The sale pauses into onboarding while the file forms.

02

Documents land in a private checklist

The customer uploads ID and proof of funds from a private link. Each document lands in the case vault with class and expiry details.

03

Screening keeps a receipt

Agnes’s screening provider runs its lists. The result stores as a reference on the check row, so future examiners can see what was checked and when.

04

Approval requires another person

Agnes prepares the file, but her login cannot approve it. A colleague reviews and approves, and both names stay on the case.

05

The order releases only after approval

Approval changes the case state and releases the order for dispatch. The customer sees a short pause and a form; the control remains inside the workflow.

06

The review comes due on risk

A high-risk rating sets a 12-month review. The file returns to the due list with one expired ID, and the customer receives a request for that document only.

Describe your onboarding rules

Kliv builds from your description, so the more detail you give, the closer the first version. Include thresholds, customer types, document classes, screening providers, approval rules, and renewal dates. Here are three to build on:

kliv.dev

Bullion dealer KYC

Threshold cases, document checklist, and second approval.

“Build a KYC workflow for our precious-metals shop. Orders above €10,000 should open an onboarding case, customers should upload ID and proof of funds to a checklist, screening results should store provider and result reference, and approval by a second reviewer should release the order.”

B2B client onboarding

Company documents, ownership questions, checks, and reviews.

“Build a client onboarding system for our payments company. Collect company-register documents, an ownership questionnaire, and screening results per check; require compliance approval; and renew high-risk cases every 12 months and standard cases every 36 months.”

kliv.dev

Client acceptance file

Risk questionnaire, conflicts, and partner sign-off.

“Build a client acceptance workflow for our accountancy practice. Include a risk questionnaire, engagement conflicts checked against existing clients, document uploads, and partner sign-off recorded before any engagement letter goes out.”

Obligations as workflow

Identity documents stay behind the counter. Documents are private by default with per-case access. Every opening is logged. The sales floor can see case state, not passports.

Incomplete files cannot close. A case reaches approved only when the checklist is complete, checks are recorded, and the second reviewer has approved. The schema removes the shortcut.

Renewals follow risk. Due files surface on a worklist, and reminder emails ask for the specific document needed at the right time.

When thresholds or document rules change, you change the rule in the app. That is the broader case for tools that keep up with the rulebook.

Common questions

What exactly is Kliv?

Kliv is an AI app builder for custom web apps. You describe your onboarding and KYC workflow, it builds the app, and you own the result.

Do I get a real app, or a template?

A real app. Kliv builds the case records, document checklist, approval workflow, review queues, roles, and reports around your rules.

Can I change it after it’s built?

Yes. You can change thresholds, document classes, review schedules, roles, or reports by asking for changes.

Does Kliv run sanctions screening?

No. Your screening provider does that. The app opens the case, records each check with provider and result reference, and keeps the history.

Who can look at identity documents?

Only roles you name, scoped per case, with access logged. Other users can work from case states such as pending, approved, or due.

What enforces four-eyes approval?

The approve control does not appear for the login that prepared the file, and the server rejects the write as well. Both names are stored permanently on the case.

What happens when the rules change?

Thresholds and checklists are data. New cases can use the new rule, while old cases keep the rule they were decided under.

Can review dates depend on risk?

Yes. A high-risk file can return every 12 months, a standard file every 36 months, or any schedule your policy requires.

Can customers upload documents themselves?

Yes. A private upload link can collect the required documents and attach them to the case checklist.

Can I move off Kliv later?

Yes. The code syncs to your own Git repository, so leaving is a git pull rather than a rebuild.

Do I need a separate admin tool?

No. The app can be its own admin for cases, documents, checklists, review queues, and reports.
