Build an AI-powered financial analysis tool
Kliv is an AI app builder. Describe your finance desk, and it builds scheduled actuals, variance bridges, cost-center permissions, attached explanations, and board packs from live rows.

What is Kliv?
Kliv isn’t a BI dashboard product with fixed charts — it’s an AI that builds software for you.
You describe the app you need in plain words, and Kliv builds it: the imports, database, calculations, screens, permissions, and workflows. What you get is a real app that’s yours. You can run it on your own accounts, connect your existing systems, and change it later by asking for changes. It isn’t a template.
On this page, that app is a financial analysis desk for a finance team. Kliv builds all kinds of web apps; this is one example.
Why build your own financial analysis tool?
Month-end finance work often fails at the same point: the numbers arrive, but the story around them arrives days later. Generic dashboards can display charts, but they do not enforce cost-center ownership, variance thresholds, explanations, and board-pack assembly.
Kliv can build the close around your rules: the chart of accounts, the cost-center tree, the thresholds, the narratives, and the permissions that decide who can read which rows.
Actuals, budget, story
The month’s work becomes records in one database, with rules enforced where the data lives.
The actuals feed
A scheduled job pulls the ledger export every night and lands account, cost center, period, and amount as rows.
The cost-center tree
The tree stores who owns which lines and also acts as the access map. A department head’s login reads only its branch.
The variance bridge
Budget and actuals sit side by side, with variance math in typed server-side functions and thresholds you set once.
The narrative shelf
Every explained variance keeps its explanation, author, and date attached to the line it explains.
The board pack
The pack assembles from live rows: bridges, narratives, and watchlist items current when the pack opens.
The finance assistant
The assistant answers from uploaded memos, policies, prior narratives, and the rows the signed-in user is allowed to read.
An example: Farah’s month-end close
Here’s how one finance team might use a financial analysis tool built with Kliv. It’s only an example — you would describe your own ledger feed, cost centers, thresholds, and board-pack rules.
An overrun is flagged automatically
Freight lands 31% over budget. The bridge shows it Tuesday morning because the threshold is a rule, not a habit.
The right manager sees the right lines
The plant manager opens the tool and sees her cost centers, including the freight overrun, and none of her peers’ numbers.
The line drills down to invoices
The overrun opens to the invoices behind it, including $48,000 of expedited shipping for a hotel order.
The explanation attaches to the variance
She writes the explanation once on the line itself. It carries her name, the date, and the amount it explains.
The board pack opens with the story included
Farah brings the bridge and narrative already joined, so the meeting can focus on the next decision instead of chasing the number.
Describe what you want to build
Kliv builds from your description, so the more detail you give, the closer the first version. Include imports, variance rules, access rules, and report outputs. Here are three to build on:
Cost-center variances
Actuals, budget, thresholds, and owners.
“Build a variance analysis tool where actuals import nightly from our ledger, budget sits beside them by account and cost center, any line more than 10% over budget is flagged with an owner, and department heads can explain only their own lines.”
Board pack builder
Monthly bridges and narratives from live data.
“Build a board reporting tool that assembles monthly revenue, gross margin, freight, labor, and cash bridges from live financial rows, includes attached variance narratives, and keeps a KPI watchlist for the finance team.”
Covenant watchlist
Loan ratios recomputed from actuals.
“Build a covenant monitoring dashboard that recomputes our loan ratios from monthly actuals, shows headroom by period, and alerts the finance team when headroom falls below 15%.”
Plumbing for the P&L
A scheduled job makes the actuals feed reliable: it runs nightly, logs each run, and retries failures. The export key for the accounting system can live in the platform’s vault, outside the app source. Access is data, not etiquette; the database applies cost-center rules before a page renders.
When the chart of accounts changes, describe the new tree and Kliv can update the app while keeping history. The AI part here is specific: an assistant grounded in uploaded memos, policies, prior narratives, and the rows the signed-in user may read. Deciding what to do with the numbers stays with the finance team.
The close is one recurring operation. Internal tools on Kliv is about building the rest of them too.
Common questions
What exactly is Kliv?
Kliv is an AI that builds custom web apps from a description. For financial analysis, it can build imports, calculations, cost-center permissions, narrative workflows, and board-pack views.
Do I get a real app, or a template?
A real app. Kliv builds the database, jobs, calculations, screens, and access rules for your finance process.
Can I change it after it’s built?
Yes. Ask for a new threshold, report, cost-center tree, or import field, and Kliv updates the app.
Where does the data come from?
From the export your accounting system already produces. A scheduled job can collect it and land it as rows, with logs for every run.
Can department heads see each other’s numbers?
No. The cost-center tree can be used as the permission map, applied per row in the database.
Does the assistant forecast or recommend cuts?
No. It answers from loaded policies, memos, prior narratives, and allowed rows. Decisions stay with the finance team.
What happens when we restate the budget?
Budget versions can be stored as rows. A restated budget lands beside the original, bridges recompute, and old periods keep their original context.
Can narratives stay attached to numbers?
Yes. Each explanation can live on the variance line with author and date, so the same question later finds the earlier answer.
Can the board pack use live rows?
Yes. Bridges, narratives, and watchlist items can assemble from the current records when the pack opens.
Can import credentials be kept out of source code?
Yes. Connection keys can be stored in a secrets vault rather than in the app’s source.
Can I move off Kliv later?
Yes. The app source can sync to your own Git repository, and your financial records remain yours.
Can each login get a different view?
Yes. Views can follow cost-center scope, finance-team scope, or admin scope.
