Build a portal for your accounting and bookkeeping practice
Kliv is an AI app builder. Describe the bookkeeping portal you need — client spaces, document uploads, close checklists, reminders, and monthly engagement fees — and it builds it.
Just enter your idea into the text box and AI will build it for you
What is Kliv?
Kliv isn’t a bookkeeping portal product you sign up for and configure — it’s an AI app builder that builds software for you.
You describe the app you need in plain words, and Kliv builds it: the data, the logic, the screens, and the workflow. What you get is a real working app that’s yours. You own it, run it on your own accounts, and take payments through your own Stripe account. It isn’t a template with your name on it.
On this page, that app is a custom portal for your accounting and bookkeeping practice. Kliv builds all kinds of web apps; this is one example.
Why build your own bookkeeping portal?
Bookkeeping firms run the same close many times every month. The work gets harder when statements arrive by email, close status lives in a partner’s head, and the checklist is copied by hand.
Kliv builds the firm’s rhythm into the portal. Each client gets a sealed space, documents land where they belong, close checklists open each month, reminders run on schedule, and engagement fees can collect on your own Stripe account.
What the system knows
Many clients means many repeated records. The portal keeps them separated and current.
Client spaces
Each restaurant is an organization with its own documents, close status, people, and invoices. One client’s ledger does not exist for another client’s sign-in.
The document drop
Statements, receipts, payroll reports, and other files upload into the client’s own space, dated and named. The firm stops chasing email attachments.
The close checklist
Your firm’s close procedure opens per client per month: reconcile, categorize, review, deliver. Partners see all closes on one status board.
The engagement
A client’s monthly fee, such as $395 for a café tier or $795 with payroll, is a subscription on your own Stripe account. Failed cards can retry and send recovery emails.
Deadlines
Filing dates and close targets drive scheduled reminders. The missing-statement nudge can go out on the 3rd without a staff member writing it.
An example: Ruth’s restaurant bookkeeping practice
Here’s how one firm might use it. It’s only an example — you would describe your own client types, checklist, reminders, and fees.
New monthly checklists open automatically
Ruth’s firm serves forty restaurants. At the start of the month, a scheduled job opens a close checklist for every client from the firm’s procedure.
Missing documents trigger the chase
On the 3rd, clients missing bank statements or receipts get a reminder with a link to their own upload space. The reminder says exactly what is still missing.
Partners work a status board
By the 10th, the firm can see which closes are blocked, which wait on review, and which are ready to deliver. “Where are we on the bistro?” is answered on one page.
A failed card is handled by dunning
The sushi bar’s card fails on its $795 engagement with payroll. Stripe retries and sends a fix-it link; the partners see the log instead of doing collections by hand.
Reports stay in the client space
Finished reports post to each client’s portal, where they remain readable later. The month closes without attachment versions scattered through email.
Describe your practice portal
Kliv builds from your description, so the more detail you give, the closer the first version. Include your client types, documents, close steps, reminders, and prices. Here are three to build on:
Bookkeeping client portal
Document drops, close checklists, and billing.
“Build a client portal for our bookkeeping firm. Each restaurant client gets a private document drop for statements, receipts, payroll reports, and sales-tax files, a monthly close checklist with reconcile, categorize, review, and deliver steps, reminders for missing documents on the 3rd and 7th, and monthly engagement billing at $395 or $795 with payroll on Stripe.”
Tax season organizer
Personalized checklists and missing-item tracking.
“Build a tax-season portal for our firm. Each client gets a personalized document checklist by return type, due dates for W-2s, K-1s, 1099s, and payroll summaries, automatic missing-item reminders, draft return review, and a signed approval record.”
Fractional CFO hub
Report delivery and metered advisory hours.
“Build a client hub for our fractional CFO practice. Each company gets a private space for monthly reports, board decks, action items, and advisory questions. Include a $1,200 monthly retainer and metered advisory hours billed at $175 an hour after the included 5 hours.”
How it comes together
The firm’s playbook can answer staff questions. Upload procedures such as tips payroll or delivery-platform fee handling into a staff knowledge base. New hires ask the agent and get answers from the firm’s own documents, with transcripts saved.
Reminders are scheduled jobs. Document chases, deadline nudges, and Friday summaries read the same rows as the close checklist.
Clients settle up in their own space. Card updates, invoices, and tier changes can be self-serve on your own Stripe account. A lapsed engagement can close access on the schedule you set.
A bookkeeping firm is a service business with engagement tiers, capacity, and client lifecycle. See the services solutions page.
Common questions
What exactly is Kliv?
Kliv is an AI app builder. You describe your bookkeeping portal, and Kliv builds the real app: client spaces, document drops, checklists, reminders, billing, and admin screens.
Do I get a real app, or a template?
A real app. The checklist, document types, reminders, client roles, and fees are built around your firm’s process.
Can I change it after it’s built?
Yes. You can change the close checklist, add a document type, adjust reminder timing, or add a new engagement tier later.
How is client confidentiality enforced?
Each client business is an organization. Access rules in the database mean a client account receives only its own documents, checklists, invoices, and messages.
Can clients pay their monthly fee through the portal?
Yes. Engagements can run as subscriptions on your own Stripe account, and clients can manage cards and read invoices in their own space.
What happens when a client’s card fails?
Kliv can retry the charge on a schedule and email the client a recovery link. Access follows the grace period you choose.
What happens to a client’s records if they leave?
Their documents and history are rows and files in your app. You can export what the engagement letter requires and keep what your retention policy says.
We change our close procedure twice a year. How hard is that?
You describe the change and the checklist template updates. Future closes use the new procedure, while past months keep their history.
Do I need a separate CMS or admin tool?
No. The portal is its own admin: staff manage clients, checklists, documents, reminders, and billing inside the app.
Can I use my own domain?
Yes. The portal runs on your own domain and goes live when you build it.
Can I move off Kliv later?
Yes. The app’s code syncs to your own Git repository, so leaving is a git pull, not a rebuild.
