Build your own client portal
Kliv is an AI app builder. Describe the client portal software your studio needs — projects, deliverables, approvals, files, invoices, and per-client walls — and Kliv builds it.
Just enter your idea into the text box and AI will build it for you
What is Kliv?
Kliv isn’t a portal product with fixed rooms and labels — it’s an AI app builder that builds software for you.
You describe the portal you need in plain words, and Kliv builds the database, access rules, screens, files, approvals, and billing flows. You own the result, run it on your own domain and accounts, and keep changing it by asking for changes. It isn’t a template.
On this page, that app is client portal software for a studio or professional service business. Kliv builds many kinds of web apps; this is one example.
Why build your own client portal?
A studio often works across proofs, files, approvals, email threads, and invoices. Generic portals give you their idea of a room, their labels, and their workflow.
Kliv builds the portal around your process. Each client is an organization in your database. Every project, file, version, approval, message, and invoice carries that organization on the row.
A client who signs in sees their own work. Other clients’ work does not appear.
What each room holds
Six objects carry a client relationship from kickoff to archive.
Clients and their walls
Each client is an organization. Every row in the portal belongs to one. A link from another client’s project resolves to nothing.
Deliverables and versions
Round one, round two, and final versions are records with files, dates, and statuses. What was shown and when is stored.
Approval decisions
An approval records who clicked, which version they approved, and when. Later scope questions have a record to consult.
Message threads
Feedback lives next to the version it concerns. Your team sees every thread; each client sees only their own.
Invoices and milestones
Kickoff, approval, and final invoices can be issued from the portal, paid by card, and reconciled to the project.
Asset archive
After handoff, the portal can remain the archive: final files, brand assets, and decisions shared with the client organization.
An example: Rowan’s brand studio portal
Here’s how one studio might use client portal software built with Kliv. It’s only an example — you would describe your own clients, approval stages, files, invoices, and access rules.
A client room is created at kickoff
Rowan creates a client organization and invites three client users. From that point, rows tagged to that organization are visible to them and not to other clients.
Round one lands with feedback in place
The first concepts upload as version one. The client gets an email on Rowan’s template, and feedback lands beside the work instead of in a separate inbox.
Approval triggers the milestone
The marketing director approves version three. The approval records name, version, and timestamp, and the milestone invoice issues from the same project.
A new stakeholder checks the history
Someone joins mid-project and asks for an older direction. The version history and thread show what was presented, what was approved, and by whom.
Handoff becomes the archive
Final assets land in the portal file store and stay shared to the client organization after the project closes.
Describe the portal you need
Kliv builds from your description, so the more detail you give, the closer the first version. Include clients, roles, deliverables, approval rules, file access, and invoices. Here are three examples to build on:
Creative studio portal
Versioned deliverables, recorded approvals, and milestone billing.
“Build a client portal for my design studio where each client organization has its own projects, versioned deliverables, approval buttons that record who approved which version and when, milestone invoices at kickoff and approval, and my team can see every room.”
Video production hub
Cut reviews, timestamped comments, gated finals, and final invoice rules.
“Build a video client portal where clients review rough cuts, leave timestamped comments, approve the final edit, and download final deliverables only after the closing invoice is paid.”
Architecture client room
Drawing revisions, phase sign-offs, shared files, and client roles.
“Build a client portal for my architecture practice with drawing sets organized by revision, phase sign-offs by authorized client users, a shared file room per project, and finance users who can see invoices but not design comments.”
How the walls actually work
Organizations and row-level security. Kliv’s end-user identity gives every client a real organization with members and roles. A row belongs to an organization, and only its members read it. Every page, file list, and search result follows that rule.
Files have the same walls. A deliverable shared to one client organization is invisible to every other. Download links respect the access rule too.
Money stays with the project. Milestone invoices can run on your own Stripe account. A $4,500 approval milestone can issue when approval is recorded, and final-asset download can wait until the closing invoice clears.
Portals are half the agency story; retainers, white-label work, and payment timing are the other half — how agencies run on Kliv.
Common questions
What exactly is Kliv?
Kliv is an AI app builder. You describe the client portal you need, and it builds a real app with client organizations, files, approvals, messages, invoices, and access rules.
Do I get a real app, or a template?
A real app. Kliv builds around your clients, roles, deliverables, approval stages, file rules, and billing process.
Can I change it after it’s built?
Yes. You can add a QA stage, change approval states, add a client role, or change invoice timing by asking for changes.
Can a client have several users with different rights?
Yes. A client organization can have roles such as approver, coordinator, uploader, or finance contact, and you define what each role can see and do.
What stops one client from seeing another’s work?
Row-level security in the database. Projects, versions, files, messages, and invoices carry their owning organization, and users get only their organization’s rows.
Can the portal look like our studio?
Yes. It is your app on your domain, with your layout, typography, and email templates.
Can approvals be recorded?
Yes. An approval can store the user, version, timestamp, and decision so there is a record later.
Can invoices run through my own Stripe account?
Yes. Milestone and final invoices can be paid through your own Stripe account.
Do clients need Stripe accounts?
No. Clients pay invoices by card or the payment methods you enable.
Can final files wait until an invoice is paid?
Yes. Download access can read the ledger and open only after the invoice clears.
Can I use my own domain?
Yes. The portal can run on your own domain.
Can I move off Kliv later?
Yes. The app’s code syncs to your own Git repository, so leaving is a git pull.
