    What is Kliv?

Kliv isn’t a punch-clock product you configure. It’s an AI app builder that builds software for you.

You describe the app you need in your own words, and Kliv builds it: the database, the rules, the screens, the exports, and the alerts. What you get is a real app that’s yours. You can run it on your own domain, use it with your team, and keep changing it by asking for changes. It isn’t a template with your logo on it.

On this page, that app is an attendance and time tracking system. Kliv builds all kinds of web apps; this is one built around rosters, clock-ins, approvals, and pay rules.

Why build your own time tracking?

A company with crews across many sites usually has rules a generic punch clock does not understand. Each site has a schedule, each shift has expectations, and each payroll period has overtime, differentials, corrections, and approvals.

Kliv builds the app around those rules. You describe what counts as on time, who approves a correction, when overtime starts, and how the payroll export should look. The result is attendance software that follows your pay policy instead of asking you to work around it.

    What the timesheet knows

The facts behind a pay period, and where each one is enforced.

    Shifts and rosters

The roster says who is expected at each site and when, weeks ahead. Alerts and reports compare clock-ins against that schedule.

    Clock-ins and clock-outs

Each punch records the person, site, time, and how it was made. A punch can be corrected, but the original, the editor, and the reason stay in the record.

    No-show alerts

If no one clocks in 15 minutes after shift start, the supervisor gets an alert while there is still time to send cover.

    Approved hours

Raw punches become payable hours only after a supervisor signs off. Payroll never receives an unreviewed number.

    Pay rules

Overtime after 40 hours, a clinic night differential, and holiday multipliers are encoded once and applied the same way each period.

What runs after the rules are set

The weekly tasks the app can handle from the same attendance records.

    Site-pinned clock-ins

The clock-in page knows which site a crew member is rostered to and records the punch against it. You can require a site selection, code, photo, or other check at clock-in.

    Corrections with a trail

If someone forgets to clock out, the fix becomes a correction request for a supervisor to approve. The original punch remains under the correction.

    Friday payroll export

Approved hours run through your pay rules and export in the shape your payroll provider expects, generated the same way every week.

    Client-visible logs

Each client can get a sign-in that shows visits for their own site only. The same row rules that scope employees to their records scope clients to their building.

    Hours against contract

A dashboard compares delivered hours to contracted hours by site, so under-service shows up before it becomes a cancellation risk.

    An example: Lena’s cleaning company

Here’s how one business might use it. It’s only an example — you would describe your own sites, shifts, pay rules, and approval process.

    01

Crews clock in at the site

Lena’s cleaners arrive at an office building and clock in from their phones. The punch records the cleaner, site, time, and shift it belongs to.

    02

    A missed clock-in alerts a supervisor

One clinic shift is still missing a punch 15 minutes after start. The supervisor gets an alert while there is time to send cover.

    03

    Forgotten clock-outs become requests

A cleaner forgets to clock out at the dental office. The correction goes to the supervisor with a reason, and the original punch stays visible under it.

    04

    Clients can verify visits

The office-building client signs in and sees only that building’s visit log. They cannot browse another client’s site or another cleaner’s private records.

    05

    Payroll exports approved time

On Friday, approved hours run through overtime and night-differential rules and export to payroll. Payroll receives reviewed numbers, not raw punches.

Describe what you want to build

Kliv builds from your description, so the more detail you give, the closer the first version. Include sites, shifts, approval rules, alerts, and the payroll export. Here are three to build on:

    kliv.dev

    Cleaning crew attendance

Multi-site crews, alerts, approvals, and payroll export.

“Build an attendance app for our cleaning company. We have 60 cleaners across 30 client sites. Crews clock in from their phones at the rostered site, supervisors get no-show alerts after 15 minutes, corrections require approval with a reason, and approved hours export every Friday grouped by regular, overtime, and clinic night-differential rates.”

    kliv.dev

    Warehouse shift board

Three shifts, badge clock-ins, and overtime.

“Build a time tracking system for our warehouse with three fixed shifts: 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., 2 p.m. to 10 p.m., and 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Employees clock in by badge number, overtime starts after 40 hours in a week, and the operations manager gets a daily attendance summary at 9 a.m.”

    kliv.dev

    Tutoring hours log

Sessions logged, approved, and invoiced monthly.

“Build an hours log for our tutoring agency. Tutors record sessions against students and school districts, coordinators approve each week, and approved hours roll into a monthly invoice per district at $58 per tutoring hour.”

    How it comes together

Every punch is scoped to its owner. A cleaner sees their own shifts and hours. Supervisors see their sites. The office sees everything. Row-level security makes other crews’ records unreadable, not just hidden from a menu.

Alerts are scheduled jobs. A server-side check runs against the roster every few minutes. If an expected punch is missing, the alert goes out by email or into the operations Slack channel, if that is where supervisors work.

Pay rules get tested before payday. As Kliv builds, it can write tests around overtime, differentials, holidays, and rounding. A failing test blocks publishing. The first disputed paycheck is the wrong place to discover a rule mismatch.

Attendance is often part of a wider internal toolkit: job scheduling, supply checklists, client reporting, and payroll exports. More of that lives under tools teams build for themselves.

    Common questions

    What exactly is Kliv?

Kliv is an AI app builder that creates custom web apps from a description. For attendance, it builds the rosters, clock-in screens, approval flow, alerts, pay rules, and exports around how your team works.

Do I get a real app, or a template?

A real app. Kliv builds the database, rules, screens, and exports for your use case. It is not a generic timesheet template with settings.

Can I change it after it’s built?

Yes. You can ask for changes later, such as a new pay rule, a different no-show window, a new export format, or a client portal.

Can we stop people clocking in from home?

You decide what a valid punch requires: the rostered site, a posted code, a photo, or another check. The app enforces the rule you describe.

What happens when someone forgets to clock out?

The open punch appears on a supervisor review screen. Closing it requires an approval and a reason, and the original punch stays in the record.

Does it replace our payroll system?

No. It feeds payroll. The app owns rosters, punches, approvals, and pay rules, then exports approved hours in the format your payroll provider accepts.

Can employees see their own hours?

Yes. Each employee can see their punches, approved totals, and remaining leave if you track it. The view reads from the same rows payroll exports.

Can supervisors approve only their own sites?

Yes. Supervisor access can be scoped by site, so they review the crews they manage and cannot read other sites unless you allow it.

Can clients see proof of attendance?

Yes. You can give a client a sign-in that shows visits for their own site only, including dates, times, and approved service records.

Can it handle overtime, night rates, and holidays?

Yes. You describe the rules, and Kliv applies them when approved hours are calculated for export.

Can I use my own domain?

Yes. The app can run on your own domain for employees, supervisors, clients, and office staff.

Can I move off Kliv later?

Yes. The code syncs to your own Git repository, so leaving is a git pull rather than a rebuild.
