Build a custom video streaming platform
Kliv is an AI app builder. Describe your video streaming platform, and it builds the catalog, checkout, access rules, screeners, collections, and viewer records.
Just enter your idea into the text box and AI will build it for you
What is Kliv?
Kliv isn’t a streaming-platform product you sign up for and configure. It’s an AI that builds software for you.
You describe the app you need in plain words, and Kliv builds it: the database, the logic, the screens, and the workflows. What you get is a real, working app that’s yours. You can use it, change it later by asking for changes, and run it on your own domain and, for payments, your own Stripe account. It isn’t a template with your name on it.
On this page, that app is a video streaming platform under your own name. Kliv builds all kinds of web apps; this is one of them, and that’s what the rest of this page covers.
Why build your own streaming platform?
An independent studio with a finished catalog needs more than an upload page. It may need film pages, subscriptions, single-film purchases, press screeners, collections, and a viewer list it owns.
Kliv builds the platform under your name. The catalog, access rules, checkout, screeners, and audience records live in your app instead of inside another company’s storefront.
What the catalog holds
These records turn a folder of masters into a streaming business.
Films and cuts
Each title can keep its festival cut, director’s cut, caption files, stills, and collection membership. A new upload becomes a new version instead of erasing history.
Playback access
A film’s file is served only to an account entitled to it. Public pages can be readable while the stream stays behind the gate.
Two ways to pay
A $9 monthly all-access subscription and a $12 single-film purchase can live in one catalog and open the same player.
Press screeners
A screener can be shared to one critic’s account and revoked when the review runs. No shared password is required.
Collections
A trilogy, retrospective, or season can have its own page and price, built from existing films without duplicating files.
An example: Rowan’s documentary studio
Here’s how one studio might use it. It’s only an example — you would describe your own catalog, prices, access rules, screeners, and collections.
A film page starts private
Rowan uploads renditions, captions, and stills for a new documentary. The film page assembles around them, but nothing is public until the studio publishes it.
The film has two prices
The film joins the $9 monthly all-access plan and also gets a $12 purchase price. The trilogy collection picks it up from the same catalog record.
A critic gets one-account access
One journalist receives early access to the film through her account. When the review runs, Rowan revokes the screener in a click.
The gate is tested before launch
A Scenario test signs in as a lapsed subscriber and tries to press play against a copied database. The stream stays closed, and the test records why.
Premiere sales run through the studio
The announcement goes to the studio’s list. New subscriptions and single-film purchases use the studio’s own Stripe account, and buyers become records the studio owns.
The week’s numbers are visible
Rowan can see which trailer page converted, revenue by channel, and where viewers stopped watching, based on events the app tracks.
Describe the streaming platform you want
Kliv builds from your description, so the more detail you give, the closer the first version. Include your catalog, prices, access rules, screeners, collections, and analytics. Here are three to build on:
Documentary subscription catalog
All-access subscription plus single-film purchases.
“Build a streaming platform for our documentary studio. Offer a $9 monthly all-access subscription, $12 single-film purchases, gated playback for entitled viewers, press screeners shared to one account at a time, and collections for our trilogy and director retrospectives.”
Film-school lecture library
Cohort access and progress tracking.
“Build a streaming library for our film school. Enrolled cohorts should stream assigned films and recorded lectures, each cohort should see only its assigned material, and each student should have viewing progress recorded.”
Regional cinema archive
Member streaming, donations, and curator notes.
“Build a streaming archive for our regional film heritage foundation. Include restored films, member-only streaming, donation checkout, curator notes on every title, and public film pages search engines can read.”
What stays public and what stays gated
Film pages can render for search engines and AI assistants with the synopsis, stills, credits, and collection links. The stream itself stays behind the entitlement check.
A purchase is a durable record. If a viewer buys a trilogy, the app can keep that access even if the viewer later cancels an all-access subscription.
Watch history, mailing-list records, revenue, and source code stay under your control. A player is only one part of a media business; audiences, archives, and revenue are covered more broadly on the media solutions page.
Common questions
What exactly is Kliv?
Kliv is an AI that builds custom web apps from a description. You tell it what you need, it builds the app, and you own the result. For this page, that means a streaming platform with film pages, gated playback, subscriptions, purchases, screeners, collections, and audience records.
Do I get a real app, or a template?
A real app. Kliv builds the database, the logic, and the screens for your specific case. It is not a pre-made theme you fill in.
Can I change it after it’s built?
Yes. You ask for changes in plain words and Kliv updates the app, without starting over.
Can I use my own domain?
Yes. The app can run on your own domain and go live as soon as you build it.
Can I move off Kliv later?
Yes. The code syncs to your own Git repository, so leaving is a git pull, not a rebuild.
Does Kliv take a cut of payments?
No. Payments run through your own Stripe account. Stripe’s card-processing fees are between you and Stripe.
Do my customers need their own Stripe accounts?
No. Your customers pay by card. Stripe is how money reaches your account; they do not need to manage Stripe.
Does Kliv transcode video or run live streams?
No. You encode the video renditions and upload them. Kliv builds the catalog, access rules, checkout, and app around those files.
Can I sell single films and subscriptions side by side?
Yes. Both can live in one catalog and open the same player. Collections can add a third purchase shape.
What do search engines see of a paywalled film?
They can see the public film page: synopsis, stills, credits, and other public metadata. The stream remains gated.
Can I send press screeners without shared passwords?
Yes. A screener can be attached to one account and revoked when you choose.
What happens when a subscriber’s card fails?
Retries run on a schedule and recovery emails send the customer a fix link. If the card is not fixed, all-access closes on your chosen timeline.
Do purchased films remain available after a subscription ends?
Yes, if that is the rule you choose. A single-film purchase and an all-access subscription are separate records.
Can I track viewing and revenue?
Yes. The app can track events such as trailer conversion, purchases, watch progress, and revenue by channel.
