Build a movie rating and review platform
Kliv is an AI app builder. Describe your movie rating and review platform — your rubric, critic and member scores, spoiler folds, editor queues, supporter access, and archive — and it builds the real app.
Just enter your idea into the text box and AI will build it for you
What is Kliv?
Kliv isn’t a review-site template or a social feed — it’s an AI that builds software for you.
You describe the app you need in your own words, and Kliv builds it: the database, review pages, rating rules, member accounts, editor queues, archive, and screens. What you get is a real app that’s yours. You can use it, change it later by asking, and run it on your own domain. It isn’t a template with your name on it.
On this page, that app is a movie rating and review platform for a critics collective. Kliv builds all kinds of web apps; this is one.
Why build your own review platform?
Large rating sites usually flatten a film into one number. A critics collective may care about separate scores: dread, craft, gore, pacing, or any other axis the group agrees on.
A review also needs a long life. On a feed, a good review disappears in days. On your own platform, a review from years ago can still be found, cited, and connected to later retrospectives.
Kliv builds the platform around your rubric, your archive, and your editorial process.
What adds up to the score
Six records sit behind every review and keep the columns honest.
The film record
Title, year, and the specific cut screened can be stored as data. A director’s cut and a theatrical release can be separate records when that matters.
The rating rubric
Your axes and weights are defined by the collective. A score can be argued with because the parts are visible.
The review and spoiler fold
A review is bylined and dated, with spoiler sections collapsed until the reader chooses to open them.
Member ballots
Members can rate on the same axes in their own column. Critic and member scores sit side by side and are not silently blended.
Supporter access
A $52-a-year supporter tier can open early reviews and a commentary shelf. Access follows the supporter record.
The editor queue
Member-submitted reviews can wait for an editor to approve or decline them, with the decision and byline kept on record.
An example: Olamide’s horror review collective
Here’s how one publication might use it. It’s only an example — you would describe your own genre, rubric, members, and editorial rules.
The rubric is ready before the screening
Olamide’s collective creates a film record for the festival premiere and scores on Dread, Craft, and Gore Honesty instead of one flat star rating.
The review explains the low score
The film earns two stars overall: high craft, low dread. Supporters read the review that night, and spoiler-heavy reasoning stays below the fold.
A member review adds the counterargument
A member submits a four-star counter-review. It waits in the editor queue, then appears on the film page after approval.
Critic and member scores stay separate
The critic column settles at 2.4 while the member column lands at 3.8. The gap is visible because the app keeps the two columns separate.
The archive keeps the argument useful
Years later, a retrospective pulls together every mention of the director from live records, with the old verdicts still easy to find.
Describe the review platform you want
Kliv builds from your description, so the more detail you give, the closer the first version. Include the rubric, editorial workflow, member roles, spoiler rules, and paid access. Here are three to build on:
Multi-axis rubric
A custom scoring system with separate critic and member results.
“Build a movie review site for our horror collective. Score each film on Dread, Craft, and Gore Honesty, weight the axes 40%, 35%, and 25%, show critic and member scores in separate columns, and never average them together.”
Spoiler-safe reviews
Review pages that keep spoilers collapsed by default.
“Add review pages with a spoiler fold. Keep spoiler sections collapsed until the reader opens them, remember that choice for the page, and keep search snippets above the fold spoiler-free.”
Supporter early window
Paid early access and a member-only shelf.
“Add a $52-per-year supporter tier. Supporters can read new reviews three days before public release, unlock the commentary shelf, manage renewal from their account, and lose early access on the schedule we set if payment fails.”
How the publication works
A supporter’s early window is an access rule. A new review carries its public date, and a supporter record can open it sooner. If a renewal fails, retries and a repair email can run before access closes.
The archive works because each review is a real page. Reviews are readable to crawlers, so old verdicts can keep bringing in search readers. A weekly roundup can be assembled from the week’s review rows and sent under the publication’s name.
A review site is a publication with a scoreboard. Feeds, archives, and audience machinery are covered on media on Kliv.
Common questions
What exactly is Kliv?
Kliv is an AI that builds custom web apps from a description. You describe your review platform, and Kliv builds the app you own.
Do I get a real app, or a template?
A real app. Kliv builds the rating records, review pages, member accounts, editor queue, supporter access, and archive around your rules.
Can I change it after it’s built?
Yes. You can change the rubric, workflow, supporter perks, page layout, or archive behavior by asking.
Can members rate without writing?
Yes. A ballot can be a simple row, while a review is a full page. Both can feed the member column without changing the critics’ score.
What keeps member reviews readable?
The editor queue. Member-written reviews do not reach a film page until an editor approves them, and each decision keeps its editor and date.
Can critic and audience scores stay separate?
Yes. They can be separate columns by design, so readers see the disagreement instead of one blended number.
How do spoiler folds work?
Spoiler sections can stay collapsed until the reader opens them. You decide which part of the review is visible before that choice.
What does $52 a year buy?
Whatever you define for supporters, such as a three-day early window and a commentary shelf. Access reads from the supporter record.
Can we hold a review until an embargo lifts?
Yes. A review can stay private until its publish date, and unpublished pages do not have to appear for readers or search.
Can I use my own domain?
Yes. The platform can run on your own domain.
Will old reviews show up in search?
Yes. Review pages can be prerendered and readable to search engines, with a sitemap generated for the site.
Can I move off Kliv later?
Yes. The code syncs to your own Git repository, and the data is exportable.
