Build a choose-your-own-adventure platform for interactive storytelling
Kliv is an AI app builder. Describe the passages, choices, saves, endings, discussion rooms, and paid branches, and it builds your interactive storytelling platform.
Just enter your idea into the text box and AI will build it for you
What is Kliv?
Kliv isn’t a fiction platform you configure — it’s an AI that builds software for you.
You describe the app you need in your own words, and Kliv builds it: the data, the logic, the reader screens, the save states, and the access rules. What you get is a real web app that’s yours, on your own domain, and you can change it later by asking. It isn’t a template for posts with buttons.
On this page, that app is a branching storytelling platform. Kliv builds all kinds of web apps; this is one for stories with choices, saves, endings, and paid access.
Why build your own interactive storytelling platform?
A blog can hold chapters, but it cannot remember what each reader chose. Branching fiction needs passages, choices, conditions, flags, saves, endings, and sometimes rooms where readers only see spoilers they have earned.
Kliv builds the story as an app. The author writes the text and the forks. The app remembers each reader’s choices, opens the next passage they earned, tracks endings, and checks paid access where a branch is locked.
A serial with state
These records separate branching fiction from a blog with buttons.
Passages and choices
A passage is a record. A choice connects passages and can carry conditions, such as having the locket or keeping trust above a threshold.
Reader saves
Each reader has their own flags, inventory, and chapter position. Their next page is computed from their save, and a new playthrough starts clean.
Endings registry
Each reader can see which of the nine endings they have found and which remain hidden, giving them a reason to replay.
Season gate
Season two and bonus branches can sit behind a $15 season pass. The passage checks the entitlement, so a premium door opens when the receipt exists.
Theory rooms
Discussion spaces can be gated by progress. The room for ending seven only admits readers whose save has reached ending seven.
An example: Juno’s branching mystery serial
Here’s how one author might use an interactive storytelling platform built with Kliv. It’s only an example — you would describe your own story, choices, endings, and access rules.
Odile reaches one ending
Odile reaches ending three of Gaslight Row after eleven chapters. Her registry marks one of nine endings found, and the epilogue names the choices that led there.
A second read starts clean
She starts another save with empty flags and no locket. Chapter two reads differently because this time she leaves the locket in the drawer.
A paid branch opens in the scene
Chapter six shows a door her first read never showed. It is a premium branch. She buys the $15 season pass, checkout completes, and the door opens without leaving the page.
Progress controls the discussion
After ending seven, the theory room for ending seven admits her. The room already has forty readers arguing about the locket, and her save is what lets her in.
New episodes publish on schedule
Season two, episode four goes live at 6 p.m. Subscribers get the announcement email, and the graph grows by another fork.
Describe the story platform you want to build
Kliv builds from your description, so the more detail you give, the closer the first version. Include choices, flags, saves, paid branches, endings, and publishing rules. Here are three to build on:
Branching mystery serial
Conditional choices, inventory, and collectible endings.
“Build a choose-your-own-adventure platform for my mystery serial Gaslight Row. Use passages and conditional choices, track reader flags and inventory such as the locket, show a collection page for nine endings, and unlock season two plus bonus branches with a $15 season pass.”
Interactive fiction anthology
Many authors, one reader bookshelf.
“Build an interactive fiction site for six authors. Each author can publish branching short stories, readers track endings per story, each story has author notes, and editors approve a story before it goes live.”
Romance with consequences
Relationship flags and extended epilogues.
“Build a branching romance serial where reader choices set relationship flags for three characters, later chapters change based on those flags, free readers get the main endings, and a $12 season pass unlocks extended epilogues.”
Publishing, payment, and reader state
Publishing can run on a schedule. Episodes can go live Thursday at 6 p.m. because a server-side job flips them live. The serial keeps its rhythm even when the author is away.
The pass is checked everywhere. The $15 season pass is a one-time purchase on the author’s own Stripe account. Every premium passage checks the same entitlement, and a refunded pass closes the doors it opened.
The graph shows where readers go. Choice clicks can be tracked as events. The dashboard can show where readers stall, which fork nobody takes, and which chapter converts free readers into pass holders.
Serial fiction is also a media operation: audience, archive, and paid access. The wider pattern is covered on the media page.
Common questions
What exactly is Kliv?
Kliv is an AI that builds custom web apps from a description. For interactive storytelling, it builds the passage graph, reader saves, endings, discussion gates, and payment access around your writing.
Do I get a real app, or a template?
A real app. Your story structure, choices, saves, endings, and access rules are built into the app. It is not a blog theme with choice buttons.
Can I change it after it’s built?
Yes. You can add mechanics, change passage rules, add paid branches, or change how endings are collected by asking for updates.
Do readers need accounts?
For saves, yes. A save has to belong to someone. A casual reader can still try chapter one anonymously and claim the save when they sign up.
Can I sell single branches instead of a season?
Yes. You can sell a season, a novella, a side story, or a bundle. Each purchase becomes an entitlement that passages can check.
What keeps spoilers out of the community?
Progress does. Discussion rooms can read the same save state as the story, so a room for an ending admits only readers who have reached it.
Does Kliv write the story?
No. You write the words and the forks. Kliv builds the app that serves them, remembers choices, handles saves, and gates paid access.
Can I use my own domain?
Yes. The platform can run on your own domain.
Do my readers need their own Stripe accounts?
No. Readers pay by card. Payments run through your own Stripe account.
Does Kliv take a cut of season-pass sales?
No. Payments run on your own Stripe account. Card processing fees are between you and Stripe.
Can readers replay from the beginning?
Yes. You can let a reader start a new save with clean flags while keeping their earlier endings in the registry.
Can I move off Kliv later?
Yes. The code syncs to your own Git repository, so leaving is a git pull rather than a rebuild.
