Build a secure file sharing platform
Kliv is an AI app builder. Describe your secure file sharing platform — rooms, counterparties, stages, permissions, Q&A, and access logs — and it builds the app on your own domain.
Just enter your idea into the text box and AI will build it for you
What is Kliv?
Kliv isn’t a rented data room you sign up for and configure — it’s an AI app builder that builds software for you.
You describe the app you need in your own words, and Kliv builds it: the database, the logic, the screens, all of it. What you get is a real, working app that’s yours. You can use it, change it later by asking for changes, and run it on your own domain. It isn’t a template with your name on it.
On this page, that app is a secure file sharing platform for your own process. Kliv builds all kinds of web apps; secure file sharing is the part this page covers.
Why build your own secure file sharing platform?
“Password in the next email” is not a policy. At the other end, rented data rooms can be expensive and rebuilt from scratch for every process.
Halima’s M&A boutique needs something more specific: buyer organizations, stages, documents that unlock after NDA, private Q&A threads, and a log of who opened what. Kliv builds that process as an app you own.
The secure room, itemized
Each record carries an access rule.
The mandate
One record holds the sale process: asset, timeline, buyer list, and current stage. Documents, Q&A, and logs hang off it.
Buyer organizations
Each bidder is an organization with its own users. Their room is the set of rows their organization can read.
Staged disclosure
Each document has the stage that unlocks it, such as teaser, post-NDA, or post-IOI. Advancing a bidder widens access by rule.
Private Q&A
Buyer questions and seller answers stay threaded per bidder, so one bidder never sees what another asked.
Access log
Every open and download records the person, organization, document, and time.
An example: Halima’s M&A boutique
Here’s how one business might use it. It’s only an example — you would describe your own rooms, stages, organizations, and logs.
The teaser goes out by invitation
Halima shares an anonymized one-page teaser. Interested buyers sign in to request the NDA, and the first access is logged.
The CIM unlocks after NDA
When a buyer signs, that buyer becomes an organization with users. Their stage changes to post-NDA, and the CIM appears for them only.
Diligence opens by stage
Contracts, financials, and environmental reports are uploaded once and unlock per bidder by stage. Q&A absorbs questions without one buyer seeing another thread.
Withdrawn bidders lose access
A bidder withdraws. Their stage closes, their reading list empties, and their previous access log remains on the mandate.
The walls are tested before the final round
A Scenario signs in as one bidder’s analyst and tries to find a rival’s room. Publishing waits for the test to confirm there is no access.
Describe what you want to build
Kliv builds from your description, so the more detail you give, the closer the first version. Include organizations, stages, file rules, sign-in, Q&A, logging, and expiry. Here are three to build on:
Sell-side deal room
Stages, bidder walls, Q&A, and access logs.
“Build a secure deal room for our M&A advisory. Each buyer organization signs in separately, documents unlock at teaser, post-NDA, post-IOI, and final stages, Q&A threads are private per bidder, withdrawn bidders lose access immediately, and every document open or download is logged with user, organization, document, and timestamp.”
Board document vault
Meeting packs, committees, two-factor, and retention.
“Build a board document vault. Directors sign in with two-factor, meeting packs are organized by meeting date, committee folders follow committee membership, documents expire according to our retention rule, and every open or download is logged per person.”
Client file exchange
Client spaces, uploads, and expiring shares.
“Build a client file exchange for my professional services firm. Each client organization has its own upload and download space, shared links expire on dates we set, nothing is public by default, and staff can export an access log for each client.”
Where the security sits
Access is in the rows. A signed-in organization receives only the rows it may read at its stage. That applies to pages, reports, and exports.
Sign-in uses real accounts. Counterparties can use work email, Google, or passkeys, with two-factor where you require it.
The log is data you own. Access events are rows in your database, so you can query, chart, and export them when a client asks for proof.
The database, file store, and rules that bind them are part of the Kliv backend.
Common questions
What exactly is Kliv?
Kliv is an AI app builder that builds custom web apps from a description. For secure file sharing, it can build rooms, access rules, Q&A, sign-in, and logs around your process.
Do I get a real app, or a template?
A real app. Kliv builds your database, file rules, screens, and access logic.
Can I change it after it’s built?
Yes. Ask for another stage, a new role, different expiry rules, or a new report.
Can one bidder see another’s activity?
No, if you scope each organization that way. A bidder’s documents, Q&A, and logs are available only to that organization and the roles you allow.
What does the access log capture?
It can capture every document open and download with person, organization, document, and timestamp.
Do counterparties need us to manage their accounts?
No. You invite the organization, and its users can sign in with supported methods such as email, Google, or passkeys.
What happens when the mandate closes?
Access can end by rule while documents, Q&A, and access logs remain archived in your database as long as you decide.
Can documents unlock by stage?
Yes. Documents can carry stages such as teaser, post-NDA, or final round, and access changes when the bidder stage changes.
Can we require two-factor?
Yes. You can require stronger sign-in for the roles or counterparties that need it.
Can I use my own domain?
Yes. The secure file sharing app can run on your own domain.
Can I move off Kliv later?
Yes. The app’s code syncs to your own Git repository, and your data can be exported.
