Google Drive integration — build the app the files need
Kliv is an AI app builder. Describe the Google Drive integration problem — projects, revisions, client access, searchable files, and transmittals — and it builds the file hub on your own domain.
Just enter your idea into the text box and AI will build it for you
What is Kliv?
Kliv isn’t a file-storage connector you sign up for and configure — it’s an AI app builder that builds software for you.
You describe what you need in your own words, and Kliv builds it: the database, the logic, the screens, and the rules. What you get is a real, working app that’s yours. You can use it, change it later by asking for changes, and run it on your own domain. It isn’t a template with your name on it.
On this page, that app is a project file hub for the records and rules your shared drive cannot enforce. Kliv builds all kinds of web apps; this is one example, and that’s what the rest of this page covers.
Why the shared drive stopped being a system
A shared drive is good storage. It is not a workflow. It does not know that Rev C supersedes Rev B, that a client may read issued drawings but not internal calculations, or that every issue needs a transmittal record.
Kliv builds the app around the files. Projects, deliverables, revisions, client access, photos, and transmittals become records with rules. Existing files can move in once, and from then on the structure lives in the app instead of in folder names.
What replaces the folder maze
The folder tree becomes records with rules.
Projects, not folders
Every file attaches to a project record with client, site, phase, and engineer of record.
Deliverables and revisions
A calculation package or drawing has revision history and status: draft, checked, issued. Rev C supersedes Rev B in the database.
Client access walls
Each client signs in as an organization and reads its own issued documents. Internal calculations and drafts do not appear for them.
The site photo library
Field photos upload from phones and become searchable by what they show, not only by filename.
The transmittal log
Who received which revision, when, and by whom is written to a table every time a document is issued.
An example: Marit’s engineering file hub
Here’s how one firm might use it. It’s only an example — you would describe your own project structure, revision states, client rules, photo workflow, and transmittal habit.
Old files move into project records
Marit imports nine folders for the worst project. Files keep their names, but from now on they attach to project records instead of relying on the folder tree.
Access rules are stated once
Files are private by default. The client organization can read documents whose status is issued. Field uploads stay unfiled until an engineer accepts them.
Search finds the package despite the filename
A junior engineer searches for last year’s wind-load calculations for a timber span and finds the package, even though the filename is 214_BER_vind_slutlig.pdf.
Issuing Rev C writes the paper trail
Rev C goes to the client. The portal shows it, the transmittal table gains a row, and the announcement email sends from the firm’s own domain.
The weekly digest writes itself
On Friday, a scheduled job posts three issues, two revisions checked, and one photo set filed to the firm’s Slack channel.
Describe the file hub you want to build
Kliv builds from your description, so the more detail you give, the closer the first version. Include project records, file states, revision rules, client access, search, and notifications. Here are three to build on:
Project file hub
Deliverables, revisions, client access, and transmittals.
“Build a project file hub for our structural engineering firm. Every file attaches to a project with client, site, phase, and engineer of record; deliverables carry draft, checked, and issued status; each client organization sees only issued documents for its projects; and every issue writes a transmittal row with sender, recipient, revision, and timestamp.”
Client deliverables portal
Issued documents only, per client.
“Build a deliverables portal where each client organization signs in to download its issued drawings and reports, internal calculations never appear to clients, and an email notification sends from our domain each time we publish a new revision.”
Field photo library
Phone uploads and searchable content.
“Build a site photo library where field engineers upload from their phones, photos are filed to project and date, each photo can be searched by what it shows such as cracked weld or north face, and unfiled uploads wait for engineer acceptance.”
What storage never learned
Access belongs on the record. Every file can carry an access rule: private, shared to a person, shared to an organization, or public. The client wall is applied by the database when the page renders.
The paper trail is a table. Issues, acceptances, and revision supersessions are rows with timestamps and names attached. A dispute can be answered from the transmittal log instead of a mailbox search.
Leaving is straightforward. The app’s source syncs with a Git repository the firm controls, and the tables and files are yours to take.
The Slack digest is one connector. Kliv apps can also act in GitHub, Notion, Linear, and more. Build & extend walks through the connector shelf.
Common questions
What exactly is Kliv?
Kliv is an AI app builder. You describe the software you need, it builds the working app, and you own the result. For this page, that means a project file hub with project records, deliverable revisions, client access rules, searchable photos, and transmittal logs.
Do I get a real app, or a template?
A real app. Kliv builds the data, rules, and screens for your specific case, not a pre-made theme you fill in. You keep changing it by describing what you want different.
Can I change it after it’s built?
Yes. Ask for changes in plain words and Kliv updates the app. You can adjust fields, workflows, pages, emails, access rules, and reports without starting over.
Does Kliv integrate with Google Drive directly?
Kliv’s built-in connectors are Slack, GitHub, Notion, Linear, HubSpot, Trello, Discord, Mailchimp, and Calendly. Drive is not on that connector shelf. This page is about moving files into the app that holds the rules.
What happens to years of existing files?
They can upload in bulk and become records attached to projects, with access rules and searchable content. Filenames come along but stop carrying the structure.
Can clients see anything we have not issued?
No. A client session reads rows its organization owns with issued status. Drafts and internal calculations are absent from its results.
Who decides when a single file leaves the walls?
Files are private until shared deliberately to a person, an organization, or the public. Each exception is a recorded decision.
Can site photos be searchable by what they show?
Yes. Field photos can upload from phones and be searchable by content such as “cracked weld” rather than just filename.
Can the app keep transmittal records?
Yes. Each issue can append a row showing which revision went to whom, when, and by whom.
Can the app post a Slack digest?
Yes. The source page’s pattern uses a scheduled Slack digest for weekly issues, checked revisions, and filed photos.
Can I use my own domain?
Yes. The file hub and client portal can run on your own domain.
Can I move off Kliv later?
Yes. The app’s source syncs with your own Git repository, and the tables and files are yours to take.
Do I need a separate client portal?
No. The app is the client portal, document system, revision record, and transmittal log together.

Give the files a system of record
Describe how files attach to projects, how revisions move, who can see what, and what each issue must record. Kliv builds the file hub around those rules.
