What is Kliv?

Kliv isn’t a retail POS or inventory product you configure — it’s an AI that builds software for you.

You describe the app you need in your own words, and Kliv builds it: the data, the screens, the customer access, the storefront, the file storage, and the payment flow. What you get is a real web app that’s yours. You can run checkout on your own Stripe account and change the app later by asking. It isn’t a generic product list.

On this page, that app is a jewelry and gemstone management system. Kliv builds all kinds of web apps; this is one for stones, bench work, repairs, documents, and one-of-one sales.

Why build your own studio system?

Jewelry inventory is not just a product list. A 1.3-carat Ceylon sapphire with a certificate is one stone, in one place, in one state: loose in the safe, reserved for a commission, out on approval, or set into a ring. Repairs and appraisals have their own custody and paperwork.

Kliv builds the studio system around those facts. The stone ledger, bench queue, customer documents, repair intake, and online case can read the same records, so the safe, bench, and storefront stay aligned.

Stones, jobs, and customers

The studio runs on these records, each with its own rules.

Stone ledger

Every stone is a row with carat, cut, origin, certificate number, cost, and current location. Safe, bench, or out on approval is a state, not a guess.

Commissions

A commission ties a customer, stone, and design together, then moves through wax, cast, set, and polish. Customer approvals have dates.

Repair intake

A customer’s ring is recorded at the counter with intake photos, condition notes, and declared value, so custody is clear from the start.

Appraisals and certificates

Certificates and appraisals live in the file store on the customer record, where the customer can find them later through their login.

Online case

The case offers what the ledger marks free to sell. A sale and state change happen together, so yesterday’s ring cannot stay listed.

An example: Tamsin’s jewelry studio

Here’s how one jeweler might use a jewelry and gemstone management system built with Kliv. It’s only an example — you would describe your own stones, jobs, repairs, and storefront rules.

01

A stone is reserved for a commission

A couple chooses a 1.3-carat Ceylon sapphire from the tray. The ledger changes it to reserved, and the online case withdraws it because both read the same row.

02

The order creates one job record

The commission is priced at $3,150 and paid in full at checkout. Payment, customer, stone, and bench schedule now live on one job record.

03

The customer approves the wax

Tamsin posts a wax photo. The customer approves it from a train platform, and the approval is saved with a timestamp.

04

The ledger follows the stone to the bench

The sapphire leaves the safe for setting, and the ledger records the move. If an insurer later asks where it was in March, the answer is on the record.

05

The app brings the ring back for appraisal

Three Januaries later, a scheduled job flags appraisals older than three years. The couple gets a reminder and returns for a $145 re-appraisal.

Describe the studio system you want to build

Kliv builds from your description, so the more detail you give, the closer the first version. Include stone fields, job stages, repair intake, customer documents, storefront rules, and payment terms. Here are three to build on:

kliv.dev

Custom commission studio

Certified stones, bench milestones, and an online case.

“Build a goldsmith’s studio app. Track certified stones by carat, cut, origin, certificate number, cost, and location; manage commission jobs with wax, cast, set, and polish milestones visible to customers; and sell finished one-of-one pieces through an online case.”

kliv.dev

Estate and vintage counter

Consignment, provenance, and one-of-one selling.

“Build an estate jewelry shop system. Record consignment intake with owner, provenance notes, condition photos, declared value, and commission terms, then list each one-of-one piece once in a storefront and retire it automatically when sold.”

kliv.dev

Loose stone dealer

Searchable inventory, holds, and checkout.

“Build a gemstone dealer’s site. Make inventory searchable by carat, cut, origin, certificate number, and price; let repeat buyers request a 48-hour hold; and take checkout on the dealer’s own Stripe account.”

How the studio rules hold

A return can require inspection first. A returned piece can come back to the bench before any refund. Money moves only after Tamsin approves it, and the approval carries her name. Store credit can be recorded instead.

The store can be tested before real money moves. Before Stripe is connected, the counter can run against imitation stock in the Sandbox: a commission paid in full, a return, a failed card, and a customer approval.

Privacy is set per file. Repair photos belong to the repair job. Appraisals belong to the customer they describe. Access rules apply per person and file.

The studio side and storefront side can grow together: collections, drops, promotion windows, and tax reports. Direct-to-consumer selling treats that half as the main event.

Common questions

What exactly is Kliv?

Kliv is an AI that builds custom web apps from a description. For jewelry, it builds the stone ledger, commission workflow, repair intake, customer files, storefront, and checkout around your studio.

Do I get a real app, or a template?

A real app. It is built around your stones, jobs, repairs, appraisals, customer access, and selling rules.

Can I change it after it’s built?

Yes. You can add stone fields, job stages, repair forms, appraisal reminders, storefront rules, or customer views later.

Can one-of-one pieces and repeatable designs share the case?

Yes. A one-of-one piece retires on sale because it is a single inventory row. A repeatable design can stay listed and take orders against the bench schedule.

What happens to a customer’s ring while it’s in for repair?

It is recorded from intake with photos, condition notes, declared value, and every move between safe and bench.

Does the money pass through Kliv?

No. Checkout runs on a Stripe account in the studio’s name, and money moves between your customer and you.

Do customers need their own Stripe accounts?

No. Customers pay by card. Stripe is how the money reaches your studio account.

Does Kliv take a cut of sales?

No. Payments run on your own Stripe account. Card processing fees are between you and Stripe.

We keep 20 years of paper records. Can they come along?

Yes. Old stone books and customer cards can become rows, with certificates, repairs, and sales attached to the right records.

Can customers access appraisals later?

Yes. Appraisals and certificates can live on the customer record behind their own login.

Can I use my own domain?

Yes. The studio system and storefront can run on your own domain.

Can I move off Kliv later?

Yes. The code syncs to your own Git repository, and your data and files can be exported.
