What is Kliv?

Kliv isn’t a gig marketplace product you sign up for and configure — it’s an AI app builder that builds software for you.

You describe what you need in your own words, and Kliv builds it: the database, the logic, the screens, and the rules. What you get is a real, working app that’s yours. You can use it, change it later by asking for changes, and run it on your own accounts, including your own Stripe account if you charge for memberships or placements. It isn’t a template with your name on it.

On this page, that app is a freelance marketplace built around the work you want to broker. Kliv builds all kinds of web apps; this is one example, and that’s what the rest of this page covers.

Why build a vertical marketplace?

A general freelance marketplace reduces specialist work to ratings and filters. That is not enough when the work depends on fit: the genre, the voice, the accent, the sample, the deadline, and whether the freelancer has been vetted for this kind of job.

Kliv builds the marketplace around those rules. Profiles can carry audio samples and genre tags. Briefs can be visible only to qualified freelancers. Auditions can stay private between the author and the narrator. The vetting queue is part of the app, because quality is what makes a focused marketplace worth using.

What the marketplace keeps track of

Six records make the marketplace work, with access rules on each one.

Narrator profiles

Profiles hold audio samples, genres, accents, and turnaround times. Public profile pages are prerendered so a narrator’s name can show up in search.

Briefs

An author’s brief carries genre, length, deadline, and budget band. Qualified narrators see matching briefs; everyone else does not.

Auditions

A narrator reads the sample pages and uploads the take. It attaches to the brief, and only that author can play it.

Project rooms

A hire opens a shared room for files, feedback, checkpoints, and notes. Each party sees only the rooms they belong to, enforced by the database.

The vetting queue

Freelancer applications pass through a moderation workflow before a profile goes live. Approvals, rejections, and reasons are recorded.

Pro membership

Narrators can subscribe for featured placement and unlimited auditions. The paid entitlement opens the benefits and closes them again if the subscription lapses.

An example: Nina’s audiobook narrator marketplace

Here’s how one marketplace might use it. It’s only an example — you would describe your own niche, vetting rules, and project workflow.

01

Authors post private briefs

Nina’s marketplace starts with a 95,000-word cozy mystery brief: female narrator, light Irish accent, six-week deadline, and a stated budget band. Matching narrators see it in their feed; the public internet does not.

02

Narrators audition without exposing the work

Five vetted narrators upload takes of the same two pages. The author plays them side by side, and each narrator sees only their own submission and status.

03

A hire creates the workspace

When the author chooses one narrator, a project room opens for exactly those two people. The four other narrators get a polite no-thank-you email automatically.

04

Files and feedback stay in one place

Chapters, pickup notes, and feedback accumulate in the room by checkpoint, so the work does not spread across dozens of email threads.

05

Reviews strengthen the next match

Both sides rate the collaboration. Those reviews become part of the narrator’s public profile, which makes the next author’s decision easier.

06

Paid membership changes access immediately

After two successful books, the narrator pays $19 a month for pro membership. Featured placement and unlimited auditions open immediately, and would close on schedule if the payment stopped.

Describe the marketplace you want to build

Kliv builds from your description, so the more detail you give, the closer the first version. Spell out the niche, who can join, what stays private, and how money works. Here are three to build on:

kliv.dev

Narrator marketplace

Private casting with vetted audio samples.

“Build a marketplace for indie authors hiring audiobook narrators. Authors post briefs with genre, word count, accent needs, six-week deadlines, and budget bands. Narrators apply to be vetted with three audio samples, audition privately on selected briefs, and each hire gets a project room for chapter files, feedback, milestones, and reviews.”

kliv.dev

Wedding photographer marketplace

Portfolios, dates, and booking holds.

“Build a marketplace where couples post wedding photography briefs with date, venue, guest count, and budget. Vetted photographers pitch with portfolio galleries and day rates, couples can hold a date with a $250 deposit, and the booking room keeps contracts, shot lists, and messages private to the couple and photographer.”

kliv.dev

Publishing translator marketplace

Language pairs and sample pages.

“Build a marketplace where publishers post translation briefs by language pair, manuscript length, subject, deadline, and budget. Vetted translators submit private sample pages, editors compare them side by side, and each signed contract gets a private workspace for files, milestones, and delivery notes.”

How it comes together

Privacy belongs in the data. Each brief, audition, and project room is scoped to its parties. A narrator trying to reach another narrator’s audition gets no rows back. The rule lives in the database, not just in the page.

Revenue runs through the app. Pro subscriptions, featured placement, and paid fast lanes can run through the built-in commerce tools on your own Stripe account. The subscription itself controls the benefit, so a lapsed card closes the paid row on schedule.

Vetting can grow past the founder. Applications move through a real workflow: submitted, reviewed, approved, rejected, with reasons. Reviewer accounts can be allowed to do only that work.

A marketplace is a SaaS with two audiences. The operator side — plans, onboarding, and the metrics that matter — is part of Kliv for SaaS builders.

Common questions

What exactly is Kliv?

Kliv is an AI app builder. You describe the software you need, it builds the working app, and you own the result. For this page, that means a marketplace with profiles, briefs, auditions, project rooms, and paid membership tiers.

Do I get a real app, or a template?

A real app. Kliv builds the data, rules, and screens for your specific case, not a pre-made theme you fill in. You keep changing it by describing what you want different.

Can I change it after it’s built?

Yes. Ask for changes in plain words and Kliv updates the app. You can adjust fields, workflows, pages, emails, access rules, and reports without starting over.

How private are auditions?

Auditions are scoped to one brief and one narrator. Only the author for that brief can play them. Queries outside that scope return nothing.

How does the marketplace make money?

Common patterns are freelancer subscriptions, featured placement, and paid fast lanes for urgent briefs. You set the prices, and payments run through your own Stripe account.

Do clients and freelancers need their own Stripe accounts?

No. Customers pay by card. Stripe is connected to your marketplace account; freelancers and clients do not need Stripe accounts to use the app.

Can I control who gets in?

Yes. New freelancer applications can sit in a moderation queue until approved. You decide the bar: samples required, credits verified, probation badges, or anything else your niche needs.

Will freelancer profiles show up in search?

Yes. Profile pages are prerendered as readable HTML, and the sitemap grows with the marketplace, so names and specialties can be indexed.

Can each project have its own private room?

Yes. A hire creates a room for the client and freelancer only, with files, feedback, checkpoints, and messages tied to that project.

Can paid perks turn off automatically?

Yes. Access reads the subscription record. If a pro subscription lapses, featured placement or unlimited auditions can close on the schedule you set.

Can I use my own domain?

Yes. The marketplace runs on your own domain when you publish it.

Do I need a separate CMS or marketplace admin?

No. The app is its own admin: approve freelancers, edit profiles, manage briefs, review projects, and change page text from the app itself.

Can I move off Kliv later?

Yes. The code syncs to your own Git repository, so leaving is a git pull rather than a rebuild.
