What is Kliv?

Kliv isn’t a PLC, SCADA package, Modbus gateway, or OPC-UA server — it’s an AI that builds software for you.

You describe the app you need in plain words, and Kliv builds it: the database, HTTP endpoints, dashboards, alarm workflow, roles, setpoint table, and reports. What you get is a real app for your plant. You can use it, change it later by asking, and keep the records in your own system. It isn’t a template.

On this page, that app is a device monitoring and control system above your gateways and PLCs. Kliv builds all kinds of web apps; this is one example.

Why build your own monitoring system?

Machines may already measure the important values: temperatures, pressures, runtime, duty cycle, and supply conditions. The missing layer is often the record above them: who saw the alarm, what changed, and what the machine was doing when quality drifted.

Kliv builds that layer. Gateways report readings into a database, alarm rules are readable to the team, acknowledgments are recorded, and setpoint changes carry author and reason.

Machines, readings, and commands as rows

Monitoring earns trust when each part has a record.

The machine file

Each press, chiller, and compressor has make, tooling, current setpoints, and service history. Readings, alarms, and commands all attach to the machine.

Readings

Gateways can post readings every 30 seconds to a typed endpoint, with rows kept long enough to compare seasons.

Alarm rules

A threshold records the value, required duration, and who gets notified. Changing a rule is an edit with a name on it.

Acknowledgments

Acknowledging an alarm records who saw it, when, and what they did. Handled and ignored are no longer a memory question.

Setpoints and commands

Desired state can live in the app for the gateway to collect on its next poll. Every command is a row with author and reason.

An example: Konrad’s injection-molding shop

Here’s how one plant might use it. It’s only an example — you would describe your own machines, readings, thresholds, roles, alarms, and setpoint rules.

01

A small drift becomes visible

Chiller two’s supply temperature rises 1.5 degrees over four hours. No single reading looks dramatic, but the trend is recorded.

02

The alarm watches duration

The rule fires after 90 minutes above target. The on-call tech gets the machine, graph, and rule that fired.

03

Acknowledgment stops repeats for one person

The tech acknowledges from home at 03:40 with the note “checking remotely.” Repeats stop for him, while unacknowledged alarms would continue escalating.

04

The setpoint change keeps a reason

He raises the coolant flow target and records “suspected fouling, service ticket opened.” The gateway collects the new value on its next poll.

05

Day shift reads the night from the file

The machine file shows the drift, alarm, acknowledgment, and command. The team does not reconstruct the night from hallway talk.

Describe the first machine to monitor

Kliv builds from your description, so the more detail you give, the closer the first version. Include machines, reading cadence, thresholds, escalation, roles, and command rules. Here are three to build on:

kliv.dev

Press temperature board

Press readings, duration alarms, and acknowledgments.

“Build a monitoring board for our injection presses. Gateways should post barrel and mold temperatures every 30 seconds, alarm if a press stays 5 degrees above target for 90 minutes, notify on-call staff until acknowledged, and log acknowledgments per machine.”

kliv.dev

Cold-room alarm chain

Minute readings, escalation, and audit history.

“Build a cold-room monitor that records temperatures every minute, escalates unacknowledged alarms up a three-person call-out list after 5 and 15 minutes, and keeps per-room history for food-safety audits.”

kliv.dev

Compressor duty tracker

Duty cycle, pressure trends, and service from running hours.

“Build a tracker for our compressors. Log duty cycle and pressure every minute, flag rising duty cycle trends week over week, and schedule service after 2,000 running hours.”

What the night shift leans on

Readings arrive through a typed TypeScript function. The endpoint validates readings and rejects malformed posts. The gateway authenticates with a key kept in the secrets store.

Escalation is a scheduled job. An unacknowledged alarm climbs the call-out list on your schedule. Missing readings can also raise alarms, so a quiet gateway does not disappear for a weekend.

Access is scoped by role. Operators can acknowledge alarms on their line, engineers can change setpoints, and a refrigeration contractor can see two chillers and no press data.

Most internal tools track people and process; this one tracks machines. Internal tools for the factory floor cover the rest of that pattern.

Common questions

What exactly is Kliv?

Kliv is an AI app builder for custom web apps. You describe your monitoring and control workflow, it builds the app, and you own the result.

Do I get a real app, or a template?

A real app. Kliv builds the database, endpoints, dashboards, alarms, roles, command table, and reports around your plant.

Can I change it after it’s built?

Yes. You can add machines, change thresholds, adjust escalation, add readings, or alter roles later.

Does Kliv speak Modbus or OPC-UA?

No. Your gateway keeps that job. The app receives what the gateway posts and holds setpoints the gateway collects.

What happens when a gateway goes quiet?

The missing readings can be the alarm. A scheduled check can notice the gap and raise it like any other threshold breach.

Can an operator make an alarm disappear?

Acknowledging records who saw the alarm and what they did. It does not erase the alarm row or its timeline.

Who can change a setpoint?

The roles you grant. A change writes a command row with author, reason, old value, and new value.

Can contractors see only assigned machines?

Yes. A contractor role can be limited to specific machines, such as two chillers and no press data.

Can the app control devices directly?

The app can hold desired setpoints for your gateway to poll. The gateway remains the bridge to the device layer.

Can I move off Kliv later?

Yes. The code syncs to your own Git repository, so leaving is a git pull rather than a rebuild.

Do I need a separate dashboard tool?

No. The app can include dashboards, alarm timelines, machine files, and reports.
