Build a cooperative and microfinance management system
Kliv is an AI app builder. Describe your cooperative’s by-laws, balances, loan rules, guarantors, committee approvals, and payroll imports, and it builds the system.
Just enter your idea into the text box and AI will build it for you
What is Kliv?
Kliv isn’t a banking package — it’s an AI that builds software for you.
You describe the app you need in plain words, and Kliv builds it: the data, the workflow, the screens, and the rules. What you get is a real web app that’s yours, available on your own domain for staff and members, and you can change it later by asking. It isn’t a template.
On this page, that app is a cooperative ledger and loan-management system. Kliv records rules and arithmetic; money itself still moves through your bank, cash office, or mobile-money process.
Why build your own cooperative management system?
Core-banking software is priced and shaped for banks. A teachers’ savings cooperative may run on its own by-laws: members can borrow up to three times their savings, two colleagues guarantee each loan with their own balances, and the committee decides approvals. If those rules live in a spreadsheet beside the software, the software is not doing the work.
Kliv builds from the by-laws outward. Caps, locks, approvals, minutes, imports, statements, and dividends become the records and calculations the app uses every day.
One member, four balances
Everything the office tracks hangs off the member record.
The member record
Shares, savings, join date, school, and payroll source live on the member record, with history instead of smudged passbook entries.
The loan
Each loan has a product, schedule, balance, and arrears state. A school-fees loan and an emergency loan can have different terms because they are different records.
The guarantee
A guarantor pledge locks part of the guarantor’s savings when accepted and releases when the loan clears. The lock is recorded, so it cannot be forgotten.
The committee minute
Each approval records who sat, who moved, and what was decided. A questioned decision later has a record.
The dividend
Year-end dividends compute from the share register at the AGM-approved rate, with each member’s figure traceable to their balances.
An example: Wanjiru’s teachers’ cooperative
Here’s how one cooperative might use a management system built with Kliv. It’s only an example — you would describe your own by-laws, products, approvals, imports, and member access.
A loan request checks the cap first
A member applies from her phone for KSh 40,000. The form reads her savings and checks the three-times cap before the request can be filed.
Guarantors accept from their own logins
Two colleagues accept the pledge. The pledged part of each guarantor’s savings locks immediately.
The committee works from a queue
The monthly meeting opens loan applications with the numbers already checked. Each decision writes the minute as it is made.
The payout starts the schedule
The treasurer disburses through the bank as usual. The system records it and starts the repayment schedule from that date.
Payroll deductions reconcile monthly
The payroll file imports, matched rows post, and mismatches queue for a clerk with reasons attached. Arrears show on a list.
The guarantor locks release automatically
When the final deduction clears the balance, both guarantors’ locks release the same day because the release reads the loan balance.
Describe the register you need
Kliv builds from your description, so the more detail you give, the closer the first version. Include member balances, loan products, guarantor rules, approvals, imports, statements, and dividends. Here are three examples:
Village savings group
Weekly contributions, small loans, and share-out.
“Build a savings-group manager for a 30-member village group. Track weekly contributions, a social fund, small loans approved at the weekly meeting, arrears, and a share-out computation at the end of each 12-month cycle.”
SACCO member portal
Balances, loan applications, and guarantor requests.
“Build a member portal for our 480-member savings cooperative. Members should check share, savings, and loan balances; apply for loans up to three times savings; and accept or decline guarantor requests from colleagues.”
Dairy co-op offsets
Milk deliveries offset loan balances.
“Build a system for our dairy cooperative. Members deliver milk against recorded weights, monthly milk payments offset outstanding loan balances first, and each member sees their own deliveries, deductions, and balance.”
Rules the office no longer argues about
Each member sees their own books. A member can see her balances, loans, and guarantees she has given. The committee sees the queue. The auditor can have read access without a write path.
Payroll imports meet a function. A typed server-side function parses each school’s deduction file, posts matches, and queues exceptions with reasons.
Statements send on a schedule. At month end, each member gets a statement by email in the co-op’s wording. The office no longer prints slips for every balance question.
Software like this is usually justified by a headcount the co-op may never have. Described instead of procured, it can fit a two-clerk office — the same economics behind tools built to the size of the office.
Money itself moves where it always did: bank, cash box, or mobile money. Kliv holds the record, rules, and arithmetic.
Common questions
What exactly is Kliv?
Kliv is an AI that builds custom web apps from a description. For a cooperative, it builds the ledger, loan workflow, guarantor rules, approvals, imports, statements, and member portal you describe.
Do I get a real app, or a template?
A real app. It is built around your by-laws, products, formulas, roles, and office process.
Can I change it after it’s built?
Yes. If the AGM changes a rule, you describe the change and Kliv updates the app so it applies in one place.
Does member money pass through Kliv?
No. Disbursements and repayments move through your bank, cash office, or mobile money as they do today. Kliv is the ledger of record.
Can our exact by-law formulas be enforced?
Yes. Three-times-savings caps, product-specific interest, guarantor locks, and AGM-approved dividend rates can become app rules and calculations.
What does the annual audit look like?
Every balance movement carries its source, such as a payroll import, committee decision, or recorded payout, with who and when attached. The auditor works from records instead of loose vouchers.
Can members without smartphones still be served?
Yes. Clerks can serve members at the counter while the counter, phone portal, and committee all read the same rows.
Can guarantor savings be locked automatically?
Yes. A guarantee can lock part of a guarantor’s savings when accepted and release it when the loan balance clears.
Can payroll deductions be imported?
Yes. Monthly files can be parsed, matched, posted, and queued for review when something does not match.
Can I use my own domain?
Yes. Staff and member screens can run on your own domain.
Can I move off Kliv later?
Yes. The app’s code syncs to your own Git repository, and your records can be exported.
Can members see other members’ balances?
No. Member access can be scoped so each member sees only their own balances, loans, and guarantee exposure.
