Kliv is an AI app builder. Describe your book production and publishing process, and it builds a real app for title records, manuscript versions, ARC readers, preorders, and direct sales.
Just enter your idea into the text box and AI will build it for you
Kliv isn’t publishing software you configure from a fixed menu — it’s an AI that builds software for you.
You describe the app your press needs in plain words, and Kliv builds it: the database, workflow states, file handling, reader access, storefront, checkout, and admin screens. What you get is a real app that’s yours. You can run it on your own accounts, including your own Stripe account, and change it later by asking. It isn’t a template.
On this page, that app is a book production and publishing platform. Kliv builds all kinds of web apps; this page focuses on manuscripts, editorial states, ARC readers, preorders, and direct sales.
A small press shipping many titles has to know where every book stands: draft, line edit, cover decision, proof, ARC, preorder, launch, or backlist. Spreadsheets and file names do not hold that process reliably.
Kliv builds the system around your production ladder. Titles, manuscript versions, editorial states, readers, and sales become records in one database the press owns.
The records that answer the questions a press currently answers from memory.
One row per book: author, editor, season, ISBN, cover status, and position in the editorial workflow. The catalog view comes from this table.
Every draft is a file with a version trail. The March 4 line edit can still be retrieved in April, and the current version is clear.
Draft, structural edit, line edit, proof, press-ready — your stages, enforced as states. A title cannot reach preorder while it is still below proof.
Advance readers sign in and see only the copies they have been granted. Their notes land on the title they belong to.
Preorders, launch pricing, signed editions, ebooks, and bundles sell through checkout on the press’s own Stripe account.
Here’s how one press might use it. It’s only an example — you would describe your own titles, stages, reader access, prices, and launch rules.
Rowan creates a title record for a September novel. The draft becomes version one, and the season calendar shows how far it still has to go.
Structural edit and line edit each create a new manuscript version. The author sees their own title and history, not the rest of the press’s list.
Cover comps and proof status sit on the title record. Without proof sign-off, the preorder page does not open.
Forty advance readers get free checkout access. Each reader sees the gated copy they were granted, and their notes file against the title.
The $24 hardcover and $9 ebook go on sale, with a launch-week promotion code that starts and stops on the dates Rowan set.
After launch, ebook downloads remain gated by purchase, and series bundles can sell from the same catalog.
Kliv builds from your description, so include title records, stages, files, reader access, pricing, preorder rules, and sales terms. Here are three examples:
Production workflow plus direct storefront.
“Build a book production platform for my indie fiction press. Track one record per title with author, editor, season, ISBN, manuscript versions, editorial stages from draft to press-ready, ARC reader access, $24 hardcover preorders, $9 ebook sales, and launch-week promotion codes through my Stripe account.”
Expert authors and heavy review cycles.
“Build a book production platform for my nonfiction studio. Track fact-check status, expert reviewer assignments, citation files, manuscript versions, author approvals, and a direct-sales page for each book with $32 hardcover and $14 ebook options.”
Chapters shipped to subscribers.
“Build a serial publishing platform. Subscribers pay $8 a month to read chapters as they clear editing, public visitors can read the first chapter free, the archive stays gated to active subscribers, and each chapter keeps editorial status and version history.”
A storefront on your terms. Preorders and launch editions are one-time products; a serial imprint can be a subscription; a three-book series can be a bundle. All can live in one catalog and check out through the press’s own Stripe account.
ARC access uses the same access system. Advance copies can be free products that create customer records and entitlements. You can grant access, revoke it, and count who has what.
An agent can read your house style. Upload the style guide, editorial letters, and series bibles into a knowledge base. The agent answers from those documents and stores the exchange on the title it concerns.
The catalog is only the start. A press can also add royalty statements from order rows, events for launch readings, and a review-quote library from ARC notes. When the press starts selling the author, not just the book — memberships, signed tiers, a reader community — the creators solutions page is the map of that territory.
Kliv is an AI app builder. You describe the publishing platform you need, and Kliv builds the app, including records, stages, files, access, storefront, checkout, and admin screens.
A real app. It is built around your press’s production ladder, titles, files, readers, and sales, not a generic publishing template.
Yes. You can add stages, change access rules, revise pricing, add bundles, or add royalty statements by asking.
No. Your drafting tools, editors, designers, and judgment stay where they are. Kliv builds the production and publishing system around that work.
A sign-in and the titles they have been granted. The grant is an entitlement, so you can see who has access, revoke it, and count who leaves notes.
Yes. Sales run through checkout on the press’s own Stripe account. Customer records, orders, and payouts belong to the press.
No. Payments run on your own Stripe account. Card processing costs are between you and Stripe.
The press does. Manuscripts live in your file store, records live in your database, and the app’s source code syncs to your own Git repository.
Yes. Ebook access can be an entitlement: the purchase opens the download, and no purchase means no access.
Yes. The code syncs to your own Git repository, so leaving is a git pull rather than a migration project.
Yes. You can schedule preorder pages, launch pricing, and promotion codes with start and stop dates.
