Build a custom local volunteer platform
Kliv is an AI app builder. Describe your organizations, shifts, requirements, waitlists, clearances, and hour records, and it builds the volunteer platform.
Just enter your idea into the text box and AI will build it for you
What is Kliv?
Kliv isn’t a signup-sheet tool with a few settings — it’s an AI that builds software for you.
You describe the app you need in plain words, and Kliv builds it: the data, the logic, the screens, and the workflows. You own the result, run it on your own domain and accounts, and can change it later by asking. It isn’t a template signup board.
On this page, that app is a local volunteer platform. Kliv builds all kinds of web apps; this is one example for community centers, partner organizations, shifts, and hour records.
Why goodwill leaks out of a signup sheet
A volunteer center may be matching a whole town to dozens of organizations: pantry shifts, trail work, school mentoring, river cleanups, and service hours. A web form can collect names, but it does not manage requirements, cancellations, confirmed hours, or annual letters.
Kliv builds the center its own platform, where shifts, signups, clearances, waitlists, and hours are records with rules.
What a shift signs up for
Five records carry the core operation.
Partner organizations
The pantry, trail crew, and mentoring program can each post needs and see their own rosters. The center can see across all programs.
Opportunities and shifts
A shift carries date, place, headcount, and requirements. The 11th signup for a 10-slot shift goes to the waitlist.
The hour ledger
Hours are logged per shift and confirmed by a coordinator. Annual letters are generated from confirmed records.
Clearances
Youth-facing roles can require a current background-check confirmation on file before a volunteer can claim the shift.
The volunteer file
Skills, interests, availability, and history live on the volunteer record, owned by the center.
Six things the signup sheet never did
The sheet took names. The platform can run the program.
Reminders on schedule
A Thursday reminder before a Saturday shift can send automatically from the center’s own address.
Waitlists that fill cancellations
When someone cancels, the first waitlisted volunteer can be offered the slot and the coordinator can be notified.
Matching by interest
A resident can search for “outdoors, Saturdays, with my hands” and find matching shifts.
The monthly digest
New opportunities can be emailed on a schedule to volunteers whose interests match them.
The annual letter
Each volunteer’s confirmed hours can generate a letter for school credit, court paperwork, or a thank-you.
The center’s dashboard
Hours by program, fill rates by month, and seasonal dips can be shown live without assembling a spreadsheet.
An example: Judit’s town volunteer center
Here’s how one volunteer center might use it. It’s only an example — you would describe your own partner organizations, shift rules, clearance requirements, and hour records.
Partner organizations post their own shifts
Judit’s center serves a town of 40,000 and more than 30 organizations. The pantry posts its weekly unload, and the trail crew posts a Saturday cleanup.
Residents find shifts by interest
A retired machinist searches for outdoor Saturday work and finds the trail crew. A student finds service-hour shifts that fit after school.
Requirements are checked before signup
A youth-mentoring shift requires a current background-check confirmation. Without that dated record, the claim button stays closed.
Cancellations refill from the waitlist
When a pantry volunteer cancels at noon, the first person on the waitlist gets the offer and the coordinator sees that the slot was handled.
Hours are confirmed, not guessed
After the shift, the coordinator confirms who showed up and how many hours they worked. The hour ledger becomes the source for annual letters.
The dashboard shows weak spots early
If Saturday’s cleanup is not filling, Judit can email volunteers whose interests match before it becomes a last-minute problem.
Describe what you want to build
Kliv builds from your description, so the more detail you give, the closer the first version. Include organizations, shift fields, requirements, waitlists, reminders, and hour letters. Here are three to build on:
Town volunteer hub
Thirty organizations, one front door.
“Build a volunteer platform for our community center. Let 30 local organizations post shifts with dates, locations, headcounts, and requirements. Residents sign up by interest, coordinators confirm hours, and the center can see hours and fill rates across all programs.”
Shift signup board
Capacity, waitlists, reminders.
“Build a shift signup app for our food pantry. Each shift has a 10-person headcount, cancellations automatically offer the slot to the first waitlisted person, and reminder emails send two days before the shift from the pantry’s address.”
Service-hours tracker
Confirmed hours and printable letters.
“Build a service-hours tracker for high school students. Students log hours per approved shift, coordinators approve or reject each entry, students can download an annual letter with confirmed totals, and the center can export totals by school year.”
The mechanics of showing up
Each partner stays inside its own program. Organizations are walls in the database. The mentoring program sees its own roster and hours; the center sees the whole town.
Clearances are files with rules. A background-check confirmation lives on the volunteer record, dated and visible to the office. Youth-facing shifts consult that record before they can be claimed.
Sign-in can fit residents. Email and password or Google sign-in can both work, while the center’s office remains the only place everything is visible together.
Volunteers are one part of nonprofit operations. Kliv for nonprofits covers donors, programs, and the money behind them.
Common questions
What exactly is Kliv?
Kliv is an AI app builder. You describe the custom community app you need, it builds it, and you own the result. For volunteering, that means partners, shifts, requirements, waitlists, hour records, and letters.
Do I get a real app, or a template?
A real app. Kliv builds the database, partner screens, volunteer screens, rules, and reports for your center.
Can I change it after it’s built?
Yes. You can add partner types, change shift requirements, add reminder schedules, adjust letter formats, or add reports later.
Can partner organizations see each other’s volunteers?
No. Each partner sees its own shifts, signups, and confirmed hours. The center can see across all partners because that is its job.
Does Kliv charge per volunteer?
No. Kliv prices the platform, not the roster size. Four hundred volunteers and 40 volunteers are still your app.
How do background checks work here?
The check itself happens wherever it does today. The platform stores the dated confirmation and uses it to gate shifts that require it.
What happens when a shift isn’t filling?
The dashboard can show weak fill rates ahead of time, and the center can email volunteers whose interests match the open shift.
Can waitlists fill cancellations automatically?
Yes. A cancellation can offer the slot to the first waitlisted volunteer and notify the coordinator.
Can volunteers get annual hour letters?
Yes. Confirmed hours can generate a letter per volunteer for school credit, court paperwork, or recognition.
Can I use my own domain?
Yes. The platform can run on the center’s own domain.
Can I move off Kliv later?
Yes. The app’s code syncs to your own Git repository, so leaving is a git pull rather than a rebuild.
