Build a community management platform
Kliv is an AI app builder. Describe your community management platform, and it builds member records, spaces, events, volunteer shifts, dues, and access rules around how your group works.
Just enter your idea into the text box and AI will build it for you
What is Kliv?
Kliv isn’t a social feed product with fixed engagement features — it’s an AI app builder that builds software for you.
You describe the community you need in your own words, and Kliv builds the real app: the database, the member records, the screens, payment flow if you collect dues, and the access rules. You own it, run it on your own accounts, and change it later by asking. It is not a template.
On this page, that app is a community management platform with spaces, events, volunteer shifts, dues, and handbook support. Kliv builds all kinds of web apps; this is one.
Why build your own community platform?
A 340-member makerspace does not run on reactions and leaderboards. It runs on who is inducted on the laser cutter, who is hosting Thursday open hours, whether the swap-board listing follows the house rules, and whether dues cleared.
Kliv builds the platform around those facts. The member record carries badges, dues status, and shift signups. Spaces, events, and booking rules read that same record, so community rules become part of the app instead of a committee memory.
What the platform knows
The platform keeps the records a community uses every week.
Members and badges
Each member has join date, dues status, and machine inductions. The laser-cutter booking page checks the badge record before allowing a slot.
Workshop-area spaces
Wood shop, textiles, and electronics can each have their own threads and access rules. A lapsed member can be shown public notices and nothing more.
Events and RSVPs
An intro class can hold twelve people. The thirteenth RSVP goes to a waitlist because capacity is enforced on the event record.
Volunteer shifts
Open hours are shifts with names, gaps, and reminders. Scheduled emails go out when you set them.
Handbook agent
Safety rules and machine guides can be uploaded and indexed, so members can ask handbook questions and stewards can review the saved exchanges.
An example: Rosa’s makerspace
Here’s how one community might use it. It’s only an example — you would describe your own members, spaces, dues, events, shifts, and rules.
A new member joins
A member signs up and pays Rosa’s $18 monthly dues through checkout on the makerspace’s own Stripe account. Member spaces open when she logs in because access follows the subscription.
A machine badge opens booking
After a wood-shop induction, a host records the badge. The table-saw booking calendar starts accepting the new member’s name.
Moderation catches the first listing
The member lists an old sewing machine on the swap board. The listing waits in a moderation queue until a steward approves it.
A volunteer shift gets covered
She takes a Thursday open-hours shift. A reminder goes out Wednesday evening with her name on the rota and the door code she needs.
The handbook answers after hours
At 11 p.m., she asks about the resin printer policy. The agent answers from the uploaded handbook, cites the section, and saves the exchange for stewards.
Describe the community you want to manage
Kliv builds from your description, so include member rules, spaces, dues, events, moderation, shifts, and what should happen when access changes.
Makerspace hub
Badges, spaces, shifts, and dues.
“Build a community platform for our makerspace with $18 monthly dues, member profiles, machine-induction badges, wood-shop and electronics spaces, events with 12-person capacity, volunteer shift signup, and a moderation queue for swap-board listings.”
Neighborhood association
Households, committees, annual dues.
“Build a neighborhood association site with household memberships, $45 annual dues, a residents-only noticeboard, committee spaces, event RSVPs, and a document area for meeting minutes.”
Alumni network
Class years, mentorship, and a directory.
“Build an alumni community with class-year groups, a searchable member directory, mentorship signup, monthly email digests, and admin approval before new profiles appear publicly.”
How it comes together
Moderation happens before publication. Swap-board listings and public posts can wait for a steward’s approve or reject decision before members see them.
A digest can write itself. A scheduled job can gather new threads, upcoming events, and unfilled shifts into one email, so members know what is happening even when they do not open the site.
Dues carry access. Membership can be a subscription. Spaces, booking pages, and boards open or close from the dues record. Failed payments can retry first and close access later on the schedule you set.
When dues, tiers, and gated libraries become central, the membership deep-dive picks up the story: running a membership business on Kliv.
Common questions
What exactly is Kliv?
Kliv is an AI app builder that builds custom web apps from a description. For community management, it builds the member records, spaces, events, dues, and rules around your community.
Do I get a real app, or a template?
A real app. Kliv builds the database, screens, and access rules for your specific community.
Can I change it after it’s built?
Yes. You can add spaces, change dues rules, adjust moderation, or add reports later by asking.
Can we run different rules for different spaces?
Yes. Each space can have its own access rule, such as members-only, committee-only, or badge-required.
What happens when someone stops paying dues?
You choose the lapse schedule. The app can send recovery emails, retry the card, and then close member-only access while keeping the member’s history.
Do we have to moderate everything by hand?
No. You choose which surfaces require review. Public boards can require approval, while trusted internal spaces can post freely.
Is our member data ours?
Yes. Members, posts, badges, and RSVPs are records in your database, and the code syncs to your own Git repository.
Can we collect dues?
Yes. Dues can run through your own Stripe account, with access tied to payment status.
Can members manage their own profiles?
Yes. Members can sign in, update profile fields you choose, and manage their own event RSVPs or shift signups.
Can I use my own domain?
Yes. The community can run on your own domain.
Can the handbook agent answer safety questions?
Yes. If you upload the handbook, the agent can answer from that material and save exchanges for review.
Can I move off Kliv later?
Yes. The code syncs to your own Git repository, so leaving is a git pull.
