Build a church management system
Kliv is an AI app builder. Describe the church management system your congregation needs — members, giving, volunteer rotas, sermons, small groups, and privacy rules — and Kliv builds it.
Just enter your idea into the text box and AI will build it for you
What is Kliv?
Kliv isn’t a church management product you configure around someone else’s assumptions — it’s an AI app builder that builds software for you.
You describe the app you need in plain words, and Kliv builds the database, the logic, and the screens. You own the result, run it on your own domain and accounts, and keep changing it by asking for changes. It isn’t a template with your church name on it.
On this page, that app is a church management system for households, giving, rotas, sermons, groups, and privacy. Kliv builds many kinds of web apps; this is one example.
Why build your own church management system?
Most church software assumes an average congregation. A real parish has its own ministries, funds, services, pledge seasons, and privacy rules. When the software doesn’t match those things, staff and volunteers end up exporting data, keeping side spreadsheets, and rebuilding reports before every meeting.
Kliv builds the system around how your congregation already works. Households, pledges, rotas, sermons, small groups, and events become records in your own database, with rules attached to each one.
That matters most for privacy. A pastoral prayer request should not be visible because someone remembered to hide a link. It should be private because the database refuses access to anyone outside the pastoral team.
What the parish system knows
Six kinds of records, each with the rule your congregation needs.
Households and members
People belong to households. Households carry addresses, anniversaries, directory preferences, and involvement history. Members see only what the congregation has agreed to share.
Giving and pledges
Recurring gifts run on schedule through your own Stripe account. One-time gifts use the same ledger. Each annual pledge tracks its own progress, and January giving statements are generated from the records.
Ministries and rotas
Readers, ushers, nursery, altar guild, and other ministries each keep their own rotation. Volunteers see assignments, request swaps, and get reminders on your templates.
Sermon archive
Audio and notes for every sermon are stored and searchable by passage, series, preacher, or season. Years of preaching become a library instead of a folder.
Small groups and prayer requests
Each group has its own schedule, discussion, and materials. Prayer requests marked pastoral are readable only by the pastoral team, enforced in the database.
Events and sign-ups
Retreats, classes, and parish meals can have capacities and waitlists. When an event has 40 beds, registration stops at 40 and the waitlist starts.
An example: Saint Anne’s parish year
Here’s how one congregation might use a church management system built with Kliv. It’s only an example — you would describe your own services, ministries, giving, and privacy rules.
The pledge drive becomes trackable
Saint Anne’s turns pledge cards into pledge records. Each household sets an amount and schedule, recurring gifts start on the right dates, and the vestry sees pledge progress on a dashboard.
The Advent rota fills online
Extra services need extra readers, ushers, and nursery shifts. Volunteers claim slots, reminders go out two days ahead, and a cancellation becomes a swap request someone can accept from a phone.
Giving statements are generated
In January, every household’s annual statement is generated from the same ledger where gifts landed. The treasurer doesn’t rebuild the year from exports.
A failed card gets handled gently
When a recurring gift stops because a card expires, retries run and an email sends the household to a page where they can update it. The parish office doesn’t have to make the awkward call.
The retreat waitlist manages itself
Forty beds and forty-three sign-ups means three households go to the waitlist. When one family cancels, the first in line gets the offer automatically.
Describe the system you need
Kliv builds from your description, so the more detail you give, the closer the first version. Include your services, funds, volunteer rules, privacy needs, and reports. Here are three examples to build on:
Parish management system
Households, giving, rotas, sermon archive, and private requests.
“Build a church management system for our 300-member parish with household records, recurring weekly and monthly gifts, annual pledge tracking by fund, ministry volunteer rotas for readers and nursery, a searchable sermon archive, and pastoral prayer requests visible only to pastors.”
Multi-campus church hub
Shared members with campus-specific services and reports.
“Build a management system for our two-campus church. Keep one shared member directory, track giving per campus and per fund, schedule campus-specific service rotas and events, and let staff filter reports by campus or across both campuses.”
Small groups platform
Group life with attendance, materials, and pastoral privacy.
“Build a small groups platform where each group has a schedule, materials, attendance, and discussion. Let leaders record attendance, let members see only their own group, and route prayer requests marked private only to the pastoral team.”
How it comes together
Giving is recurring billing, not just a donate button. Weekly, monthly, and annual gifts run on your own Stripe account. Gifts are tied to households, pledge records, and funds such as general, building, or missions, so statements and reports come from the ledger.
Privacy is structural. A small-group member can read their group, a treasurer can read the giving ledger, and a pastoral prayer request is invisible outside the pastoral team. The rule is enforced where the data lives.
The week runs on schedules. Rota reminders, Friday bulletin emails, and January giving statements can run as scheduled jobs using your templates.
A congregation is a membership organization: belonging, pledges, events, and access. The broader membership pattern is laid out at the membership solutions page.
Common questions
What exactly is Kliv?
Kliv is an AI app builder. You describe the church management system you need, and it builds a real app with records, screens, permissions, and workflows for your congregation.
Do I get a real app, or a template?
A real app. Kliv builds around your ministries, funds, services, privacy rules, and reports. It isn’t a generic church theme with fields to fill in.
Can I change it after it’s built?
Yes. You ask for changes in plain words — a new fund, a different rota process, a new report — and Kliv updates the app.
Are prayer requests really private?
Yes. A request marked pastoral is a row only pastoral-team accounts can read. The rule is enforced in the database, not by hiding a page link.
What does online giving cost us?
Kliv doesn’t charge by congregation size or donation volume. Giving runs through your own Stripe account, and card processing fees are between you and Stripe.
Do donors need Stripe accounts?
No. Members give by card or the payment methods you enable. Stripe is the account that receives the money for the church.
Can members manage their own giving?
Yes. A household can sign in, update a card, change an amount, pause a gift, and download statements from the same records the treasurer uses.
How do volunteer swaps work?
A volunteer requests a swap, eligible people in that ministry are notified, and the person who accepts takes the slot. The rota updates and both people get confirmations.
Can we keep a sermon archive in the same system?
Yes. Sermon audio and notes can be uploaded, organized, and searched by passage, preacher, series, or season.
Can events enforce capacity?
Yes. The event record can hold a capacity and a waitlist rule. Once the event is full, new registrations go to the waitlist instead of overbooking.
Can I use my own domain?
Yes. The app can run on your own domain, with your congregation’s public pages and member sign-in in one place.
Can I move off Kliv later?
Yes. The app’s code syncs to your own Git repository, so leaving is a git pull rather than a rebuild.
