What is Kliv?

Kliv isn’t a hardware platform or device cloud you configure — it’s an AI that builds software for you.

You describe the app you need in your own words, and Kliv builds it: the data, the ingestion endpoint, dashboards, alerts, support tools, and billing. What you get is a real web app that’s yours. You can connect your own Stripe account for subscriptions and keep changing the app by asking. It isn’t a fixed device portal.

On this page, that app is the cloud side of an IoT product. Kliv builds all kinds of web apps; this is one for devices, telemetry, customers, support, and recurring revenue.

Why the hardware is only half the product

A smart product needs more than electronics. It needs somewhere for readings to land, a device registry, a dashboard scoped to the right customer, alert rules, support context, and usually a subscription to pay for the service.

Kliv builds that web half. You describe the device, readings, accounts, and rules, and it builds the registry, ingestion, dashboards, alerts, and billing. The firmware team can stay focused on firmware.

The product from the cloud side

A smart product needs these records and rules.

Device registry

Every device is a record with serial, hardware batch, firmware version, and account. Support starts from the row, not an email thread.

Ingestion endpoint

Devices post readings to a typed server-side function. Each reading lands as a row against its device, and malformed payloads are refused with a reason the firmware log can read.

Accounts and devices

A customer dashboard is scoped to the customer’s account. A commercial beekeeper can see 30 hives, a hobbyist can see two, and neither can see anyone else’s yard.

Alert rules

A sudden weight drop can mean a swarm left. A slow winter slide can mean the colony is eating stores. Each rule emails the owner of the hive.

Support with context

Support threads open against a device, so the fix for scale 0447 sits beside its firmware, readings, and history.

An example: Jakob’s connected hive scale

Here’s how one smart-product company might use an IoT platform built with Kliv. It’s only an example — you would describe your own devices, readings, alerts, and billing.

01

A device is registered before shipping

Scale 0447 is registered at the bench with serial number, batch three, and firmware 2.4. The registry row exists before the box is sealed.

02

The customer claims the device

The beekeeper scans the code in the lid, and the scale binds to her account. From then on, the database makes the readings hers.

03

Readings become dashboard rows

Every 10 minutes, the scale posts a reading. The dashboard draws the nectar flow as a curve the beekeeper checks with morning coffee.

04

A weight-drop alert sends fast

On Thursday at 11:20, hive four loses three kilos in an hour. The email lands before the swarm settles nearby, and the beekeeper is in the truck by 11:40.

05

The team sees the fleet view

Jakob’s team sees firmware versions across the fleet, batch-three units reporting low voltage, and which serials to recall before winter.

Describe the smart product platform you want to build

Kliv builds from your description, so the more detail you give, the closer the first version. Include devices, readings, validation, dashboards, alerts, support, and pricing. Here are three to build on:

kliv.dev

Hive scale platform

Weights, swarm alerts, active-device billing.

“Build the cloud side of our connected hive scale. Register devices by serial and firmware version, accept weight and voltage readings every 10 minutes over HTTPS, show each beekeeper only their own hives, email a swarm alert when weight drops by 3 kilos in an hour, and bill €4.20 per active hive per month.”

kliv.dev

Tank level monitor

Rural water levels and installer device management.

“Build a portal for our rainwater tank sensors. Each property should see its own tank levels, low-level warnings should email the property owner below 18%, installers should manage devices by serial, and devices that stop reporting for 24 hours should create a support ticket.”

kliv.dev

Cold-chain logger

Temperature traces with customer access and audit trail.

“Build the backend for our delivery temperature loggers. Store temperature readings per shipment every five minutes, flag threshold breaches on the shipment record, give each customer access only to their company’s shipments, and export a PDF audit trail after delivery.”

What the firmware team does not have to build

Ingestion lives with the dashboard. The endpoint that receives readings is a typed TypeScript function in the same app as the dashboard that displays them. Device secrets live in a vault, not source.

Pricing can follow the device. Monitoring can sell at €4.20 per active hive per month, metered on active devices. Winter a few hives and the invoice shrinks.

Code stays yours. The cloud half lives in a Git repository, synced both ways, reviewable by the same engineers who work on firmware.

The fleet view, recall list, and support queue are internal tools inside the product company. Internal tools are the part of a device business nobody demos, and often the part that decides whether support scales.

Common questions

What exactly is Kliv?

Kliv is an AI that builds custom web apps from a description. For IoT, it builds the device registry, ingestion endpoint, dashboards, alert rules, support tools, and billing around your product.

Do I get a real app, or a template?

A real app. It is built around your devices, readings, accounts, alerts, and pricing, not a generic device portal.

Can I change it after it’s built?

Yes. You can add reading types, alert rules, dashboard views, account roles, support workflows, or billing rules later.

How do devices get their data in?

Over HTTPS to an endpoint you describe. The endpoint validates each payload and writes readings as rows. Any device that can make a web request can report.

Is there a per-device cost on Kliv’s side?

No. Kliv prices the platform your team builds on. Your per-device or per-hive customer pricing is your catalog, paid through your Stripe account.

Can customers share access with a partner?

Yes. Accounts can support members and roles, so an assistant can see hives without owning the subscription.

What happens when a device goes quiet?

A scheduled job can flag devices that have not reported overnight and use last-known voltage to separate likely battery problems from coverage problems.

Do customers need their own Stripe accounts?

No. Customers pay by card. Payments run through your own Stripe account.

Does Kliv take a cut of subscriptions?

No. Payments run on your own Stripe account. Card processing fees are between you and Stripe.

Can I use my own domain?

Yes. The customer portal and admin app can run on your own domain.

Can I move off Kliv later?

Yes. The code syncs to your own Git repository, and your data can be exported.

Can support see device context?

Yes. Support threads can open against devices, with readings, firmware version, serial, and account visible to the support role.
