Build an interactive GIS and mapping platform
Kliv is an AI app builder. Describe the map, records, documents, visits, photo points, and access rules you need, and it builds a GIS platform around them.
Just enter your idea into the text box and AI will build it for you
What is Kliv?
Kliv isn’t a GIS product you configure from menus — it’s an AI that builds software for you.
You describe the app you need in your own words, and Kliv builds it: the data, the logic, the map screens, the access rules, and the workflows. What you get is a real web app that’s yours, on your own domain, and you can keep changing it by asking. It isn’t a template with a map dropped into it.
On this page, that app is an interactive GIS and mapping platform. Kliv builds all kinds of web apps; this is one for land, records, fieldwork, and location-based work.
Why build your own mapping platform?
A map is useful, but many organizations need more than shapes. A land trust needs the deed behind a parcel, the baseline report, the photo from the same fence post nine years in a row, and the issue letter about a shed across a boundary.
Kliv builds the map as the front door to the database. Each boundary is a record with geometry, files, visits, photo points, and issues. Clicking the meadow opens the meadow’s record, not a separate system someone has to keep in sync.
Behind every polygon
Click a shape on the map and one of these records opens.
Parcels and boundaries
Every easement and fee property is a record with its geometry. The map renders from those records, so there is no second map to keep synchronized.
Deeds and baselines
The documents that define the parcel live on the parcel record: scanned, dated, page-referenced, and stored in the file store.
Photo points
Each photo point knows its coordinates and bearing. This year’s photo sits beside the previous years, so change is visible and evidence stays attached.
Monitoring visits
Each easement carries its visit schedule. Findings are recorded on the parcel during or after the walk, rather than waiting in a report that has to be filed later.
Encroachment issues
A structure over the line becomes an issue with coordinates, photos, correspondence, and status. If an attorney asks, the record is already assembled.
An example: Alma’s land trust map
Here’s how one land trust might use a mapping platform built with Kliv. It’s only an example — you would describe your own parcels, records, and field process.
A due list starts the visit
The quarterly email lists visits coming due. Miller Creek is one of eleven, and its parcel page already shows last year’s findings and the route to the photo points.
The monitor works from the parcel
A volunteer opens the parcel on a phone, follows the boundary, and re-shoots photo point three from the marked spot and bearing.
A finding becomes a pinned issue
A fresh ATV track cuts the meadow. The monitor files it from the trailhead as an issue pinned to coordinates, with two photos attached to the parcel.
The follow-up stays with the issue
The landowner letter is drafted, sent, and stored on the issue. Its status changes to monitoring, and the history does not live only in someone’s sent mail.
Evidence closes the loop
Next spring, photo point three shows the meadow healed. Alma closes the issue with the evidence attached, so the record has the place, the dates, and the outcome.
Describe the map you want to build
Kliv builds from your description, so the more detail you give, the closer the first version. Include the records, geometries, field forms, permissions, and reports you need. Here are three to build on:
Land trust stewardship
Easements, visits, photo points, and issues.
“Build a stewardship platform for our land trust. Track 58 easements as mapped parcels, attach deeds and baseline documents to each parcel, schedule annual monitoring visits, store photo points with coordinates and bearings, and track encroachment issues through closure.”
Trail network manager
Mapped segments, condition reports, and work parties.
“Build a trail management system for our 42-mile volunteer trail network. Each segment should be mapped with condition reports, maintenance issues pinned to coordinates, work-party assignments, and a printable route sheet for each Saturday crew.”
Municipal tree inventory
Every tree as a mapped record.
“Build a street tree inventory for our town. Each tree should be a mapped record with species, diameter, condition, pruning history, and resident problem reports routed to the right tree and status-tracked until resolved.”
Where the map meets the records
The app can answer from the files. Load deeds, amendments, baselines, and board minutes into the knowledge base. Staff can ask what a specific easement says about grazing, and the answer can cite the deed, amendment, and visit note it used. Legal judgment still belongs to staff and counsel. Finding the documents becomes faster.
Access follows the assignment. A volunteer monitor signs in and sees assigned easements and visit forms. Staff see everything. The board sees rollups. Those boundaries are enforced where the data lives.
The due list runs on schedule. Visits due this quarter can be emailed automatically, overdue visits can be flagged, and monitors can be nudged. Stewardship stops depending on someone remembering to compile the list.
Donors fund acres, not software licenses. The internal tools a mission runs on can be built by describing the work.
Common questions
What exactly is Kliv?
Kliv is an AI that builds custom web apps from a description. For mapping, it can build the database, map views, field forms, file storage, and permissions around your parcels and workflows.
Do I get a real app, or a template?
A real app. Kliv builds records, map screens, roles, and workflows for your case. It is not a generic map page with your files uploaded.
Can I change it after it’s built?
Yes. You can ask for changes later, such as adding a new visit field, a public map, a board dashboard, or a different issue workflow.
Where do the base maps and boundaries come from?
Boundaries can be imported from surveyor or county files, or drawn once and kept. Base layers use standard web map tiles; your parcels, photos, and records are rows and files in your app.
Does it work out in the field?
The visit form is a web page on the monitor’s phone. Where signal is thin, monitors can photograph and note as usual, then file from the trailhead so the record lands on the right parcel.
Who sees which parcels?
Volunteers see assigned easements, staff see everything, and the board sees rollups. The scoping is enforced by signed-in user and role.
Can it hold old paper files?
Yes. Scan the old files and attach them to parcel records in the file store. From then on, the parcel record becomes the folder.
Can the public see a map too?
Yes, if you choose to publish one. Public trail or property maps can be pages of the same app while private stewardship records stay restricted.
Can I use my own domain?
Yes. The platform can run on your own domain.
Can I move off Kliv later?
Yes. The code syncs to your own Git repository, and your data can be exported.
Do I need a separate document system?
No. Files can live on the parcel, issue, visit, or photo point they belong to, with access rules attached.
Can the app remind us about annual visits?
Yes. Visit dates can drive scheduled emails, overdue flags, and assignment lists.
