Website Building
Build a personal portfolio website
Kliv is an AI that builds custom websites. Describe the portfolio you want — public case studies, a private area for NDA work, a contact form that tracks inquiries — and it builds it on your own domain.
Just enter your idea into the text box and AI will build it for you
What is Kliv?
Kliv isn’t a portfolio template or a drag-the-boxes website builder — it’s an AI that builds software for you.
You describe the site you need in your own words, and Kliv builds it: the pages, the way your work is organized, the private areas, the contact form and what happens to a message once it arrives. What you get is a real website that’s yours, on your own domain, and you can keep changing it by asking for changes. It isn’t a theme you fill in.
On this page, that site is a personal portfolio. Kliv builds all kinds of web apps; a portfolio is one of the more straightforward ones, and that’s what the rest of this page covers.
Why build your own portfolio?
A portfolio often has to do three things at once: show the work you’re allowed to show, share private or NDA work with the specific people who ask, and catch inquiries before they get lost in your inbox.
Most portfolio templates only do the first. Kliv builds all three as one site — public case studies, a private area you share per person, and a contact form that tracks each inquiry — so you’re not stitching together a template, a file-sharing link, and a separate form tool.
What the site holds
Five kinds of thing the site keeps, each with its own rule about who can see it.
Case studies
Each project is a record: the brief, your role, the credits, the stills and clips. Adding a new one is filling in a form, not building a page from scratch.
A private area
NDA or unreleased work sits behind access rules set per piece. A producer signs in and sees only the projects you shared with her. Everyone else never knows they’re there.
Inquiries
Every “are you free in May?” becomes a record with a source, a date, and a status — new, replied, call booked, passed. The form feeds a list you can work through, not a pile of emails.
Notes
Write-ups, process notes, the occasional opinion — each one its own page that search engines index under your name.
About you
Bio, client list, tools, press — the page people skim before they decide whether to get in touch.
What working on your own actually needs
Pages machines can read
Every page is prerendered so search engines — and AI assistants — can actually read it. When someone asks about designers who cut title sequences, there’s a real page to point to.
Edit the page directly
Click a headline and change it. Nothing reaches visitors until you publish, so you can adjust the site whenever you want.
Analytics that answer questions
See which case study visitors finish, and which one they read just before sending an inquiry. Visits, conversions, and events you describe in plain words — no tag manager to set up.
Your code, in your own repo
The site’s code syncs to your own Git repository. If you ever leave, it’s a git pull, not a migration project.
Emails from your own address
Inquiry confirmations and follow-ups go out from your own domain, on your own templates — not a form tool’s.
An example: Ines, a motion designer going independent
Here’s how one designer might use a portfolio built with Kliv. It’s only an example — you would describe your own work and who should see what.
She shows the work she’s allowed to show
Ines spent six years at a studio, so much of her best work is under NDA. Her public case studies show the title sequences she can share, each with the brief, her role, and the credits.
She shares NDA work privately
A producer asks about broadcast work Ines can’t post publicly. She gives that producer a sign-in that opens exactly the three projects she chose — and nothing else.
Inquiries land as tracked records
An “are you free in May?” message becomes a record with a source, a date, and a status, so Ines works a pipeline instead of digging through her inbox.
Her pages get found in search
Because every page is prerendered, a search for motion designers who cut title sequences turns up a real page of hers — one an AI assistant can read and cite too.
She changes it herself, anytime
When Ines wants a new section or a different layout, she asks for it in plain words and publishes when it’s ready — no developer, and no template limits.
Describe the portfolio you want
Kliv builds from your description, so the more detail you give, the closer the first version. Say what you make, how you want it organized, and who should see what. Three to build on:
Motion design portfolio
Reels, stills, and credits, with an inquiry form.
“Build a motion design portfolio with a showreel on the front page, case studies that show stills and credits and the role I played, and an inquiry form that asks for timeline and budget and tracks each reply.”
Photographer’s folio
Organized by series, with a private area.
“Build a photography portfolio organized by series, with a private area for unpublished work I share by invitation, and a contact form that tracks whether I’ve replied.”
Writer’s clip file
A page per piece, filterable.
“Build a writer’s portfolio with a page for each published piece, filters by outlet and topic, and a notes section for essays I publish myself.”
How the private parts work
The private area is a real rule, not a hidden link. A secret URL leaks. Instead, each private piece carries its own rule about who can open it, checked every time someone tries. Share a piece with one producer today, remove her access tomorrow, and the change takes effect right away.
Inquiries are records, so they have a life. Each one has a status, room for notes from the call, and a reminder to follow up — so an inquiry moves from “new” to “booked” instead of getting lost.
It’s your site, on your domain. It goes live the moment you build it, the code is in your own repository, and you change it by asking — nothing about it is locked to Kliv. Kliv treats independent creative work as a real business, not a hobby tier — see creators on Kliv.
Common questions
What exactly is Kliv?
Kliv is an AI that builds custom web apps from a description. You tell it what you need, it builds the site, and you own the result — on your own domain. For a portfolio, that means real pages, a private area, and a contact form, all built around your work.
Do I get a real website, or a template?
A real website. Kliv builds the pages and the way your work is organized for your specific case, not a theme you fill in. You keep changing it by describing what you want different.
Can I change it after it’s built?
Yes. You ask for changes in plain words and Kliv updates the site — layout, wording, the way a case study unfolds, anything.
Can I really keep NDA work on the same site?
Yes. Private pieces sit behind access rules set per person. A signed-in producer sees only what you shared with her, and public visitors never know the rest is there.
Will the site show up in search?
Yes. Every page is prerendered so search engines can read it, the sitemap builds itself, and a per-page check flags what’s weak. Your name and your craft get real, indexable pages.
Do I need a separate CMS?
No. The portfolio is its own admin: case studies are records you edit while signed in, and you can click and change text directly, then publish.
How custom can the design be?
Fully. It’s your app, not a theme — layout, type, motion, the way a case study unfolds. You describe it in conversation and revise it the same way.
Can I use my own domain?
Yes. The site runs on your own domain and goes live as soon as you build it.
Can I move off Kliv later?
Yes. The code syncs to your own Git repository, so leaving is a git pull, not a rebuild.
Will inquiries get buried in my inbox?
No. The form creates a tracked record for each message, with a status and notes, and sends a confirmation from your own address.
What kinds of work does this suit?
Any showcase where some work is public and some is private — motion, photography, writing, design, architecture. You describe what you make and how it should be organized.
